In a similarly dreamy realm as fellow Columbia, South Carolina multi-instrumentalist and friend Toro y Moi, Washed Out, aka Ernest Greene, gets us ready for a chilly summer (or July Language, if you’re thinking Belong) with the woozy ambiance of “Feel It All Around.” It’s like a more insular Quiet Village until the vocals start and draw you a few steps closer, but the ending fade makes the whole thing disappear before you get a chance to burrow in deeply enough. This fleetingness is maybe part of its charm. And, why do I keep thinking about “Set Adrift On Memory Bliss“?

It’s nice to see young musicians making it happen for themselves in Columbia, SC. There’s always been a couple gems floating around there (see: Kurse Go Back, Thank God, Orgone Accumulator for some of the weirder stuff) amidst the metalcore bullshit, but nobody ever really got the attention they deserved.

I’m not so sure that there’s much of a connection between the subject matter of this piece and your band dude… other than geography. Use some discretion.

I really think the best way to explain “Feel it all around” is very much in the simplicity of it’s name. You just feel the ambiance all around you..you almost hate the song to end…
I am absolutely in love with this. It reminds me of a cool mix of 10cc and Blue States with a kickin’ twist.
