When we posted “First Train Home,” the opening song from Imogen Heap’s forthcoming third studio album Ellipse, I was pretty amazed by the number of dramatic comments it received, but now that I’ve watched the English singer-songwriter’s shadowy black and white slow-panning/slow-snowing and bundled video for “Canvas,” I see where her fans get it: It’s all about doing whatever it takes to make contact, right?
Ellipse is out 8/24 in the UK and 8/25 in North America via Megaphonic/Epic/Sony.

Oh no…prepare for the barrage of Imogen love.

omgggggg!!!!!!!!!!!! LUV THIS VIDEO s0Oo0 much!!!!!!!<3
why do you keep doing this stereogum?
do you really like all the attention from 14 year old girls proclaiming garden state was the BEST MOVIE EVERRR YAYY LOL!!!@#%@#!
Can I point out that I really like Stereogum’s user system? It allows me to quickly identify when a post is being swamped by hard-core/forum fans.
I also noticed that most of Imogen Heap’s fans seem to be teenagers
(Please take comments by silverprincess and 34 as exhibit A)
jokes on you, i was mocking all the tweens from the other imogen post. thought that’d be obvious
Are you “34″? Because I was using your comment as a ‘I’m not alone” reference.
this is better than that last song.
God help us if Imogen Heap ever does a collaboration with Bono and they link their fans to this site.
Okay, I’ve got to be fair. I ripped the last Imogen post, but this is a much better song. I take it all back. I’m picking you in a celebrity death match with Sarah McLachlan — especially if she’s singing that song about ice-cream.
I’m almost 30 and I think she’s brilliant. Hate the game.
I echo comehomenow’s comments – as some who is nearly 30 and thinks that Imogen is one of the most talented musicians from the UK at the moment.
She not only completely writes, performs, and produces everything on her albums herself – she’s also at the forefront of the new music ‘industry’ in terms of building and maintaining a grass-roots fan base in a completely personal and caring way.
Granted, with the syncs she’s had on various movies she may have picked up some teenage fans along with way, but this doesn’t detract from her genius, or the beauty of her music? And would you rather teenagers (tomorrow future musicians!) were listening to something intelligent and challenging like Imogen Heap, or mindless crap like Fall Out Boy?
f that noise. teenagers should be listening to metal.
Not fans of Imogen fans, huh? Maybe we should pull out some Animal Collective or of montreal penis for you lot to suckle. The fanchild gushing wouldn’t sound much different.
love it! so pumped for imogen’s album to come out! soon soon :]
