As previously reported, Folk Monster “Yim Yames” recorded an EP of George Harrison covers in 2001 shortly after the Beatle died of lung cancer. The acoustic set, which features the MMJ frontman’s takes on “Long, Long, Long,” “Behind That Locked Door,” “Love You To,” “My Sweet Lord,” “Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll),” and “All Things Must Pass,” finally sees the light of day this week. You can purchase the digital download now or pre-order the limited edition vinyl version that comes with a CD and a t-shirt from the Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary (a portion of all proceeds goes to this organization). Take a listen.
Tribute To is available now at yimyames.com, which says a full length Yim Yames album is coming soon. He’ll be on tour with Yonor Yoberst and Y. Yard this fall. Yes, I know I am the first person to make those terrible spelling jokes. You’re welcome.

Jim James is truly a sweetheart for donating proceeds to the folks at WFAS and, if the cause wasn’t enough to motivate you to purchase, this tribute is actually quite brilliant.
“Long,Long Long” …the 68 quiet vibe…
As much as I enjoy Jim James, “Long Long Long” sounds like I could’ve done it.
