The latest track from Natasha Khan’s synthed-up triumph Two Suns to get the This Is A Single treatment is “Sleep Alone.” It’s got a video and everything. The desolate yet sexy original underscored Khan’s restless and lonely night with a patchwork of icy synths, occasionally dissonant keys, and a pagan thump with witchy backing vocals. Fever Ray producers Van Rivers and the Subliminal Kid go for the same solitary and spell-casting vibe by weaving a backing track that’s sparer and more percussive, with a new keyboard motif that doesn’t shift too far from the original’s eerie quality but still strikes a more hopeful chord. If that’s accurate, then that makes this a somewhat revisionist remix, but then why shouldn’t she be hopeful? Because really even if Natasha’s sleeping alone tonight, that problem can’t be too difficult to remedy tomorrow.
Two Suns is out via Astralwerks.

are downloadable mp3s a thing of the past? streaming is BS when you can’t purchase the song.
This will be available to purchase, just not sure when yet.

Different… Much cooler too!
Different. DJ Spooky also uses the moniker “That Subliminal Kid” – I believe both are a reference to a William S. Burroughs character.
Thanks for your blog. Natasha is good.

Seems like a very lazy remix, imo.
