great name… how long did it take to come up with black ships? prolly as long as it took to come up with dead weather. note to out of touch musicians… please consider all band names that begin with “black” or “dead” to be officially exhausted.
This, coming from a person who probably thought the band name “Wavves” was complete genius.
The Dead Weather isn’t the greatest band name, but definitely better than Black Ships. I wouldn’t really consider Jack White to be out of touch either, he is pretty prolific.
First Brooks & Dunne and now these blokes?
Oh damn, that line’s been taken! I was TOTALLY gonna think that up.
How about, “Good! They suck!”?
Its Brooks & Dunn

If your ship is black, consult your doctor.
worst news ever
If you think the Verve sucks, you are an absolute moron. Urban Hymns is a masterpiece and A Northern Soul and A Storm in Heaven are excellent as well. I like Forth too but I’m not surprised they are apart again. Richard has too much of an ego and can’t coexist with too many people it seems.
First we read of Thom Yorke not planning any new RH albums, and now this? ?! Stereogum… way to put your readers on a sad mood. I don’t know who to be angry at. I love The Verve but if these guys can’t stay together and make great music, it’s just as well they should each part their own ways. To think that after all these years, these guys were getting back together for the love of the music to then discover they hated each other this whole time. Here’s hoping The Black Ships makes up for all of this.
my ass hurts from Ashcroft slamming me all these years …
