To date, the intensely danceable “Die Slow” and its accompanying Pictureplane remix have been the focus of our Get Color postings. The onetime BTW and onetime more straight-up noisemakers hinted at curve balls in their Progress Report. Nothing curves too much, though: They’ve tightened their rhythms, added layers to the vocals, and written stronger, more intense hooks (and the dark, droning, balladic “Before Tigers”), while remaining true to their raucous core. So, yeah, we now have better HEALTH. Get Color is one of the most satisfying releases of 2009, but instead of taking our words for it, here’s another sample of the nine-track collection — the icily relentless “We Are Water.” If you’ve ever wondered why Trent Reznor keeps taking the guys on tour with him, this should make the obvious more so.
Get Color is out 9/8 via Lovepump United. They have a couple dates with Nine Inch Nails before heading on the road with Pictureplane .
