In this 9-minute Danny Clinch-directed Backspacer promotional video you get the usual empty talk about how Pearl Jam’s ninth album is the best album of the band’s career and plenty of old ‘n wise philosophizing. That said, you also get a listen to a new western-tinged ballad “Just Breathe” and a look at the band digging into “Got Some” and “The Fixer.” All in all, the guys appear to be in a good place, even if you’re not digging the fruits of said place.

Backspacer is out 9/20.

Pearl Jam and epic shinny
I've always been a nostalgic guy. I listen to music that brings me back to good ol' times (this music often involves Pearl Jam), I watch movies I loved 10 or 20 years ago (The Fugitive, anyone?), and I often reminisce about the carefree days of my youth.
Doug Pullen: Pearl Jam's Eddie Vedder brings solo show to Plaza in April
Here's a show I actually want to see. Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder will bring his solo tour to the Plaza Theatre at 7:30 p.m. April 17. It's been 17 years since his band, which celebrated its 20th anniversary last year, has performed in El Paso.

Assuming your audience won’t be “digging the fruits of said place” assumes your audience is composed of shallow, snarky, alterna-hipsters. Oh wait.

  7. Love ‘Got Some’… sounds better than the conan performance. ‘Just Breathe’ sounds a lot like ed’s Into The Wild songwriting… which isn’t a bad thing.

“usual empty talk about how Pearl Jam’s ninth album is the best album of the band’s career ”

They never made this claim. Ya, they did on the last album, but I don’t hear that here anyway.
