Skeletons are to indie rock videos in ’09 what bootie girls are to hip-hop clips forever. I have no idea what this means (eat a sandwich?), but it’s a motif we’ve seen in one form or another via Fever Ray, Mi And L’Au, Pictureplane, Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Abe Vigoda, and we’ll stop there. Sunset Rubdown carry on the tradition for Dragonslayer‘s “Black Swan.” That said, this one also includes a faceless nude woman, which sorta brings it back to my first sentence. That, and as the accompanying image suggests, it’s gleefully trippy.

I like it… don’t understand it, but I like it.

You’re supposed to drink lots of water with ecstasy, right?

  3. I almost never know what the hell Spencer Krug is talking about in his songs. This video matches the song’s confusion perfectly, if that makes any sense.

This is one of the best albums I’ve ever heard.

  5. Uh. Trippy’s the word, I suppose. Bad trip trippy. Good song, great album anyway.

This really is a freaking great album. It’s almost too good. Probably my best of 2009. It’s so original and creative it’s almost depressing.
