Judging from his sandy photos and sounds, Los Angeles resident Pat Grossi, aka Active Child, is another of these beach-combing bedroom-atmospheric types, though he adds more than enough personalized wrinkles to the sun-drenched palette. For instance, take a listen to how the frosty synth and lilting cut-up falsetto choir add goosebumps to the otherwise temperate tones of “Voice Of An Old Friend.” It’s a bit like a new wave Owen Pallett/Ed Droste combo fronting Washed Out, or something. The song’s from Sun Rooms, a cassette forthcoming on Mirror Universe.

Sun Rooms is out soon via Mirror Universe. You’ll hear more at MySpace.
