M.I.A. pals Esau Mwamwaya and Radioclit’s post-mixtape debut full-length Warm Heart of Africa got immediate indie-rock attention via its Ezra Koenig-featuring title track, which was subsequently remixed by Metronomy and Architecture In Helsinki. Now we’re moving beyond “Warm Heart Of Africa” (and its B-Side) to another album track “Julia,” here rocked out by cousinly Brooklyn-via-Providence duo Javelin, who mention being influenced by junk shops, flea markets, endless loop tapes, regional dance music, local partying, and New Edition.

Bonus:

Warm Heart Of Africa is out via Green Owl. Javelin has a five-song 12″ forthcoming 11/01 via Thrill Jockey. It’ll be limited to 500 copies, and as the label puts it, “housed in old record sleeves that were found in record store bins across the country and then hand-screened by Crosshair.” True crate diggers. Before you get your hands on one of those, here’s “Vibrationz” from the self-released Jamz N Jemz.
