When Jessica caught up with Sara Quin for a Progress Report we found out:
?

[Quin] isn’t worried about performing the songs on Sainthood, though they won’t debut the new tracks until closer to the release date. The way they recorded means they don’t have to worry about translating 30 overdubs to a live band.

Well, it’s closer to the October release date and this past Friday Tegan & Sara gave a pretty deep look into the Chris Walla-produced follow-up to 2007′s Chris Walla-produced The Con. The set took place at Victoria, B.C.’s Rifflandia festival. (Thanks for the tip, Alice.) You’ve already seen the album art and tracklist, but this ought to give you a decent idea of what Sainthood might actually sound like. The videos are in the order the songs appear on the duo’s sixth collection.

“Hell”

“Red Belt”

“The Cure”

“On Directing”

“Alligator”

“The Ocean”

Those videos were shot by Jaime Wojdowski, who clearly has a good camera.

Sainthood is out 10/27. You will likely hear some of it if you go to any of these:

10/25 – Los Angeles, CA @ Orpheum Theater
10/30 – New York, NY @ Town Hall
10/31 – New York, NY @ Town Hall

Sainthood is for sure my album of the year! On Directing is the clear standout for me but Hell and Red Belt are very good as well! Alligator took me a while to break into, but now I can’t get it out of my head! Can’t wait to hear the rest! I just wish I could afford to preorder it but with the special books, its 80 bucks. Is there any way to preorder it without the books?

Thanks! I’ll have to get it as soon as possible! I have listened to all of these countless times now! Sara has always been a genius song writer but she’s really stepped it up with the catchyness. And Tegan’s songs are rock out heaven! I CAN’T WAIT!

  9. very nice tracks!

can’t wait for sainthood, and their banter reminds me of why i have no strong urge to see them again. not my style.

  11. I loved Sara songs immediately.
I’m going to have to listen to Tegan’s a little more..

  12. Tegan and Sara both are amazing and they both write amazing music. Love these songs, definitely going to pre-order with the books. Oh and their banters complete the show.

Cheeseus crust! I am sooo soo soo excited for Sainthood! Tegan and Sara are f**k’n amazing artists and though I love The Con, So Jealous, If it was you, Under feet like ours, This Business of Art & all the live music I have by them I am crawling out of my skin to buy this new record. These girls are my musical heros. After listening to these 6 songs & the Tiesto “feel it in my bones” I am more than ready for this masterpiece. Their live shows, humor & banter are enough to qualify them as my favorite twins ever.

im with maite. i want to wait till i get the album to listen to it again. but i dont think i can do it. these songs are so amazing it actually makes me kinda sad. but in a good way. because they are so good. and it feels like an eternity since the con came out and to hear new stuff is like the same for a fat kid in a sweet shop. its amazing. genious.

Tegan’s songs actually make sense. and i can relate to them. Sara’s songs are kinda random. yet they have a better sound to them.. so its a win win situation :) !!
i have been following them for eight years and like, they get better with each album so I’m really excited to see what they’re giving us this time!!!

  17. “On Directing” and “Alligator” are definite stand-outs. Can’t wait!

  18. So into Sara’s songs and Tegan’s are good too! It’s obviously going to be a GREAT album.
