There’s no way Brooklyn’s Acrylics will escape copious references to Chris Taylor, although as one of the first releases from the Grizzly Bear producer/bassist’s new label with Ethan Silverman, Terrible Records, clearly they’re game. What’s best about lead single “All Of The Fire” for both band and Taylor (who gets a production credit) is how little it shares by way of studio or compositional sense with Taylor’s previous triumphs, like the more psychedelically acoustic Yellow House or Rise Above‘s artsy, serrated edge. Instead Acrylics’ lead single is a ’70s mining pop tune, luring in with swelling pedal steel, reverbed guitars, Molly Shea’s pristine vocal and gorgeous, faint harmonies, washing and moving like a dreamy Fleetwood Mac rumor. The single is the centerpiece of Acrylics’ forthcoming debut EP of the same name. Worth a listen:

The band’s All Of The Fire EP is out 10/28 via Terribe. Here’s its contents:

01 “Lil Ivy”
02 “All of the Fire”
03 “Avenue I”
04 “Conselyea”
05 “Honest Aims”

  1. Fleetwood Mac is a good comparison, because both are terrible. Saw them last night at Mercury Lounge. Don’t waste your time.
