  1. A nice take on a pretty great song. But is Girls the best album of 2009? No, no it is not. But it may be the best came-out-of-nowhere-and charmed-your-pants-off album of 2009. I’m sitting here now pants-less.

  2. im not going to lie.. i don’t understand all the praise that this band gets. the album is good but its nothing that we havent already heard before, im still wearing pants y’know?

I’m really diggin’ the Girls album. Yes, it was unexpected. But what’s really surprising to me Is that it reminded me of Sleppy Jackson’s “Lovers” a lot. So do you think they’re the west coast California version of Luke Steele?

No, Girls have very little in common with Luke Steele/Sleepy Jackson. No deference meant to Luke as I like his work, but his music is a little more premeditated. Girls seem more genuine and earnest. I can’t imagine Girls making and electro dance album anytime soon as Luke did with Empire of the Sun.

How was this album unexpected? ? Girls have been getting a considerable amount of coverage for over a year now. They were playing really great shows at The Delancey and Glasslands last Fall.

Gorilla vs. Bear is ahead of the curve on the artist they cover.
