  1. Well, I’m going to golden plains then.

I bet people who got those NYC tickets and don’t live anywhere near Central Park get more pissed at themselves for jumping the gun on buying those tickets. Did they seriously not see the writing on the wall? Pavement isn’t going to play Australia before they play the USA. They’ll be hitting up the USA bigtime for starters when they headline Coachella to kick off their reunion and then probably onto some other major festivals or cities after that. The whole NYC ticket thing was a smart ticket marketing trick to cash in on Pavement diehards who thought those would be the first dates of their tour. I just can’t believe it worked so easily. In reality, the Central Park shows will probably be somewhere in the middle or towards the end of the tour when the rest of us have already seen them closer to home or at a festival like Coachella and the reunion buzz has died down. Why else do you think they put those tickets on sale so early?

    • Actually, if you read my interview with Spiral Stairs you’d know that the Australia shows will be the first shows Pavement does. http://thedumbingofamerica.net/2009/10/08/spiral-stairs-the-interview/

Meh, a few weeks isn’t going to make much a difference for those already planning to going to Coachella, but it will definitely make those waiting until September 2010 feel slightly duped (Unless you’re building an entire vacation around the Central Park shows. Still, your kid brother who didn’t even listen to Pavement while they were actually around might have a better chance of seeing them before you do if he waits patiently for a more workable date like the rest of us.

You’re totally right. I was gullible, but I was so sucked in by those sweet slacker rock jams. I guess I can just tell myself it’s an excuse to vacation in New York and see some music.

  3. that makes me feel slightly happier after the absence of any Australian Jesus Lizard shows.

  4. The very first reunion show is taking place in Auckland, New Zealand, on the first of march at Auckland town hall!!!

    I love Perth.

It’s obvious all of these people excited about seeing Pavement hae never seen them before. I saw them twice in the 90′s. We left early at one show they were so weak. They were never a very good live band. I doubt thet will be any better this (money grab) time around. It just goes to show how lame the music scene is today when people can’t wait to see an average at best 90′s band.

I also saw them in Australia twice during the 90′s and thought they were great, and surprisingly ‘tight’.

It just goes to show that Pavement really does love Perth

    • Which is baffling, because Perth sucks. Atleast they didn’t write a song about how great Adelaide is.

Seems like Malkmus is just bursting with unabashed joy at this whole reunion thing…
