We’ve talked a bit about Spoon’s anticipated seventh album Transference, the band’s followup to 2007′s Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga: You’ve seen the 11-song tracklist, heard some of its sounds via earlier live and later studio takes, and may have watched a teaser. Puzzles have multiple pieces… This morning we’re officially giving you (and everyone else) the first look at the plush Transference album art. There’s a lot going on in it, even though there’s not a lot going on in it. It’s in the eyes. The posture. The cropped woman to the right. Etc. But mostly it’s in the eyes.
UPDATE: Yes, the photo was taken by William Eggleston … in Sumner, Mississippi in 1970.
Transference is out 1/19 in North America via Merge and 1/18 in Europe via Anti-.
Single “Written In Reverse” is out digitally tomorrow.

I believe that is a William Eggeslston photo. Not cloyingly cute enough to be Wes Anderson. Although I did love Fantastic Mr. Fox – the cuteness works well in that case.
