Reading Rainbow, aka the Philadelphia duo of Rob Garcia and Sarah Everton, have a new 7″ out now on one Zoo Music, the San Diego label run by Dum Dum Girls’ Dee Dee and Brandon from Crocodiles. (They put out an excellent Woven Bones single not so long ago.) The A-Side’s the revved-up “Restless,” which finds Reading Rainbow sounding more like an echoing noise-pop choir than a twosome. They do a cover of the Velvet Underground’s “Stephanie Says” on side B. For now, get hooked on this.
The “Restless” 7″ is out now via Zoo Music.

wow, great song
It has a disoriented and chaotic sound yet in control…I like it.
Oh, another nostalgic stupid name. This kind of arbitrary fluff is just blog fodder and will be forgotten by the new year.
Hey, The New Year. That’s another band name. Gimmie another one.
They’re pretty big in Philly. They regularly play a lot of the warehouse smaller venues and it isn’t uncommon for them to open for a lot of R5 shows.
My ears are open. Let the buzz begin.
Yeah it’s been a good year for Philly locals blowing up your internets. Kurt Vile, Cold Cave, Free Energy, now these guys (who are totally awesome and the nicest folks you would ever wanna meet, btw). Almost makes us losing the World Series tolerable. ALMOST.
