As first reported by @KristinHersh, the paralyzed Athens singer/songwriter overdosed on pills and was pronounced dead on Christmas day. Constellation has collected words from admirers like Jeff Mangum and Michael Stipe, along with info on public memorials and donating in his honor.

great interview with Vic from a few months back… he talks about suicide, defeating it, flirting with it… he also talks about the 50000 in hospital bills he owed.
I’ll miss the guy. Two great albums this year and no hype, barely any press. Jeez. Grim. Grim. Grim.
Thanks for that. A really interesting and touching interview. Americans need to nationalise their health care already; it’s fucking ridiculous that anyone should be forced into debt (not least $50,000 of it!) through necessary medical procedures. As Vic said, he was totally uninsurable because of his condition. It’s bloody disgusting that he should be faced with that predicament. Obviously, in Vic’s case, it’s a lost cause. Damn shame.
One of my favorite people participating in the Twitter experiment…A real deal heavy duty soulful artist type person…I don’t know him at all but I know that song she played on Fri had me thinking of Pink Moon…rip…
sigh..it’s CHESNUTT not chestnutt that sounds disgusting
thanks for the awesome interview man. and long live socialized medicine. gonna miss this guy in a huge way
R.I.P. Vic.
A Beautiful Soul…

Rest in peace. It’s too bad this is the first time I’ve heard of him. I’m gonna check some of his music out right now.
