When most bands premiere a video, they want optimal publish time and PR company press releases to secure eyeballs. Most bands don’t have a fanbase as rabidly internettable as Animal Collective’s, though, where their best PR agents are the same people coming to their shows. Like with “In The Flowers,” the band stealthily posted a new video to myanimalhome.net after-blog-business-hours last night, and immediately it was everywhere. Unlike “In The Flowers,” it’s a bit more cohesive and reflects its underlying track more closely in its partially animated and entirely colorful, post-Where The Wild Things Are psychedelia. It’s a fun one.

While it didn’t take a PR flack to get the word out on the video itself, someone’s done a good job timing its release, at least. As mentioned, the trio (Deakin’s busy elsewhere) guest edited FADER, with a centerpiece interview by Aziz Ansari through which the two sides got acquainted via random YouTube link trades. Sorta clunky to read longform YouTube URLs in print, but a fun way to spend some time now that it’s online. To commemorate that mindmeld: FADER‘s got Animal Collective DJing their sold-out event at the American Museum of Natural history tonight, Aziz is on Conan’s show which airs at 11:35PM EST (for a few more weeks, anyway), and Mr. Ansari also released an embeddable widget for his Intimate Moments for a Sensual Evening standup CD/DVD. Enjoy that and the “Brothersport” video below:

Gold star for Aziz + Animal Collective’s PR teams.

The “Brothersport” vid’s directed by Jack Kubizne, and there’s a limited edition 10″ of the song available exclusive to the Domino mart.

They should have used footage from the movie The Lion King.
Or from Cool Runnings…If they make a Cool Runnings 2, they should use AC as the soundtrack.
What’s up with AC sounding like the EPCOT Center house band lately?

After a full year of their label preventing my video for Brothersport being on Youtube, it’s nice to finally see something they did.

No movie or tv show could do for me what the last section of I Think Can does for me at the moment…idiots…

  8. i liked this video a lot. One of my favorite songs on the album. Hope there’s more to come.

  9. I nearly had a panic attack. Sure, I shouldn’t have snorted the rest of that molly this morning, but that’s beside the point. Anyone could freak out watching this.

Plus, “Brothersport” is my least favorite song on MPP. Sorry, but it is. If they had done this for “Summertime Clothes”, I may have worshipped that video.

    Oddsack is going to rule.

  11. LSD really should be easier to get…

  12. Why was MPP the number 1 album of the year on like every music blog. It was good not number 1 album of year though. Maybe like 4 or 5.

  13. I love Animal Collective, but their videos are stupid. Do you have to be baked out of your skull to get this shit?

  14. I like it. It’s not the most amazingly brilliant video I’ve ever seen or anything, but I think randomly trippy stuff suits the song. I like it much more than the ones they did for “My Girls” or “Summertime Clothes,” anyway (though to be fair, the latter was especially lame imo – the song deserved much better).

However, I have a feeling those adorable little kids are going to be telling a therapist about this video in ten years or so.

Kids do acid and have a fluorescent egg orgy the darndest things.

  16. I just started to enjoy eating eggs for the first time in my life then i saw this video… I loved MPP, but I don’t really like their videos. This was probably their best one though. I hope their don’t spoil my fav. song “Guys Eyes” with a vid.

  17. this was really cool.. the cartoon animations were sick!
the fan made video for leaf house rules too, kinda wish it was the official one. check it out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylrmS6ayKv8

  18. great video i like anything these guys do

  19. I love this video, but wouldn’t it be awesome if they had a vid like Two Weeks? I want to see a morphing Geologist.

  20. most cohesive video i’ve seen…their best yet

  21. Great Song. Great Group. Great Album. Great Mood. Love it. Love you. Happy times. GO WORLD!

  22. P.S. Does this video answer what came first, the chicken or the egg?
