Sub Pop Announces Silver Jubilee Festival

Sub Pop Silver Jubilee

The venerable Seattle indie Sub Pop turns 25 this year, and Michael has already posted some thoughts about what, exactly, that might mean. For the people who run the label, though, that occasion is mostly just a very good excuse to throw a party. So Sub Pop’s Silver Jubilee festival, a gigantic free show with food and drinks and a record fair, will go down 7/13 at Airport Way, in the Seattle neighborhood of Georgetown. Right now, the label has only announced a few of the acts who will perform, but it’s looking pretty bulletproof so far: Mudhoney, Greg Dulli, Pissed Jeans, Father John Misty, J Mascis, Shabazz Palaces with THEESatisfaction, Shearwater, the Baptist Generals, Tad Doyle’s Brothers Of The Sonic Cloth, and Jack Endino’s Earthworm. And in the video below, leathery grunge-era OGs Doyle, Endino, Mark Arm, and Kim Thayil entertainingly extol the festival’s merits.

More bands will be announced soon, so let’s all pray for the Combustible Edison reunion.
