Hunter Hunt-Hendrix, the excellently named mastermind of the fight-starting New York art-metal band Liturgy, is about to release the self-titled debut from his side-project Survival. Survival isn’t exactly a new band; it’s a reactivation of Hunt-Hendrix’s pre-Liturgy post-hardcore band Birthday Boyz. We’ve already posted their intense, circular, seesawing “Tragedy Of The Mind,” but “Since Sun,” the second song we’ve heard from the album, is a different beast: It’s monolithic, ominously pretty acoustic doom-folk.
