It's Ryan Adam's telling off a critic who gave his live act one too many bad reviews (if anyone's got a link to the review, please send my way). He is the big fat crybaby. DeRogaatis' review is in no way vitriolic, I personally think it does make valid points about how pompous, enamored Adams is with his own wit and talent.
Someone get ol' Ryan enrolled in anger management classes... His message is hysterically funny, w/ more expletives and threats than "Fuck Tha Police." What a loser, he seems to have bought into the prevalent idea that critics are supposed to give blowjobs to everybody they review.
No, Ryan, fuck YOU, man! You're the dumbass who stoops to such unprofessional level as to leave threats on journalists' answering machines.

i've worked with adams back when he was with the original line up of whiskey town...to bad he didn't stick with that..i do have to say though that one can only help a guy get back on his stool so many times...and let me tell ya, no radio dj wants to have a drunk take a swing at him..especially when they've fought to get him interviewed for his show......
i will say this, he is one of the most talented people of our time..hopefully he'll get his act together..

When Ryan Adams writes well, he writes better than almost anybody around. Think Jacksonville Skyline, My Winding Wheel, Oh My Sweet Carolina, Wildflowers, Dear Chicago and English Girls Approximately for example - all gorgeous songs and I could have named at least 15 more that are truly beautiful. Not bad for one so young who still has his whole future ahead of him. Give him a break. So, he is young and fucked up with a huge chip on his shoulder. Big deal, join the club. So he gets drunk and behaves badly - who hasn't? Hopefully though he will one day grow up, get over it and find love and peace. I can only imagine how beautiful his music would be then. It's beautiful enough now, in spite of everything - even record companie executives. I do hope though that he will one day learn to always write from his heart instead of sometimes writing to make an impression. When he keeps it pure nobody does it better.
