Have You Seen Me Lately?

Good news for people who like bad music (from some Irish newspaper):

Pop star Mandy Moore is helping twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen realise their pop star dreams by helping them record a new album.

Moore, one of the sisters' closest pals, has been encouraging the Olsens to record an album for years, and now she's planning on hitting the studio with them.

The singer has also roped in pal Adam Duritz, of Counting Crows, to help the twins record a few rock tracks after he stepped in to give Moore's music a rockier sound during her most recent recording sessions.

I wonder if Duritz will blog about being holed up in a recording studio with three rich, hott teenage girls. Probably not.

This CD might be worth picking up. It will be interesting to hear the sound of 4 careers dying simultaneously.

Olsen Twins Cd...can we expect an electonic cover version of the Spice Girls' When Two Become One?

This is very fitting news as today the new Hill Duff disc drops.

This would be a good time to drop the URL to M-K and Ashley covering Weezer's "Island In The Sun." Anyone?

Yeah. It's not the most flattering look he could have chosen. He pins it all together on the top of his head. Looks like a mop.

what's with all the hate on Adam?

Counting Crows make the best thinking-person's pop music this side of XTC...act like ya know, fools! their first disc is still the benchmark...

U want to bite off some excellent Duritz-assisted pop? Try the Gigolo Aunts on fer size...

the sooner we flush the Olson Twinz, Britney, Xtina, and that Hilton bitch down the plughole, the better off we'll all be!

Uh... why is that idiot's blog associated with UC Berkeley? Having Chunk from The Goonies as our class president when I was there... that was bad. Somehow, this is worse.

On the bright side, there's a good chance that one look from the scary, bug-eyed Olsen Twin will stop his Twinkie-addled heart cold.

Duritz always reminded me of some kind of really fat beagel/hound dog. I've always hated the Counting Crows, I could never get what was so great about their music, to me it was always so bland. And I never got why they were choosen to open for Bob Dylan and the Who.

i don't believe this at all! i've never even heard them speak as little adults...how are they going to "sing" an entire album?

and that counting crows guy? why would you want to work with him?

mandy, let it go. he's not going to be the next linda perry...stop trying to make it happen.

in other related whyinthefuckareyourecordingan album news: i just read that gisele, super model, is supposedly recording an album.

Throughout his career, the quality of Duritz's music has been inversely proportional to the size of his bank account. The same can be said for his hairdo.

I love Counting Crows. And while I don't understand why Adam Duritz is working with these people, there is no need to attack him personally. Please grow up.

Why is Adam Duritz attacked in this story. Seems to me the only unheard singers here are the olsen twins, and so far we don't know if they can or cannot sing.

Adam rocks! He is so much better live. Very energetic and very kewl. The CC's is so kewl that they even hang out after the show to chat with fans.

For all those that have judged Adam by his appearance should look a little deeper.....

um, she used it TWICE. thanks.

oh, and please never use that word again.

Oh man.

First of all, the use of "kewl" in this comments section definitely made me raise an eyebrow. Please cease and desist.

As for Adam Duritz, bless his fat, alcoholic heart. From ages 16-18 I was totally in LOVE with the CC, and their first few albums are still really good. But "Hard Candy" makes me want to impale myself on the nearest sharp object. Please.

His journal cracks me up. He obviously is a little bit of a mess. "You people are not very pleasant", he repeats in every entry. Get a grip, Adam.

Just to further confirm the idiocy that is Adam Duritz, here is the lastest posting from his blog:

My friend Emily is so cool. Oh my god, she is so cool. Ubercool. She's cool
like lemonade. She's as cool as the other side of the pillow. I was talking
to her tonight and it occurred to me that, holy fuck, she is so cool. She is
so cool that her mom is cool. That's how cool she is. You only wish you
could be this cool. I only wish I could be this cool.

You know who else is cool. My Ladybug is cool. I never get to see her but
she really is pretty cool. I dig her. Emily says, " She has nice teeth". She
makes Emily wish she had braces when she was younger. But I think Em has
nice teeth too. Mostly, people don't think enough of themselves. It's a
shame.

Does this seem like a goofy post. It is probably. But even if it seems like
it, don't say it does. I'd appreciate it.

Counting Crows are one of the best groups to come out of the 90's. By most of the comments here I would guess that that is the decade you were all born in. Adam Duritz writes songs that touch me and others in a special way. I admit the Olson Twins are too commercialized but if he did a favor for a friend, who are we to criticize?

Oh my god, if you haven't had a chance to hear the twins' vocal stylings, there are samples of their off-key songs here:
