Stop yawning, you quiet little naysayer. I say holy fantastic! I'm so excited for our two first months of spring!!
Give me your music teacher's number.

Admitted Ben Folds fan here... excited about the new album, curious about the new 'whatever' tracks.

But I imagine that naysayers would say 'whatever' to the 'whatever and ever amen' tracks - thus being disgustingly witty. But check this - I beat you to it. So it's not going to be funny.

YESSSSSSSS!! So super pumped for this. His 3 EP's were amazing, but I'm in desperate need of a full-length. Hip hip HOORAY! We heart Ben!

Ben Folds should keep making Shatner albums instead. :)

Did anybody else find that Shatner album surprisingly depressing? I couldn’t get past 'That's Me Trying'. It was the Holidays for Christ sake.

Can anyone find the lyrics or a link to an mp3 to his new song, "Jesusland?"

apparently the b-side to Landed is a cover of Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't Shit"

I'm curious about the 7 bonus tracks too. My initial uneducated guess is that they're off Japanese and UK releases, but I can only think of 3 tracks that didn't make the US releases.

From a letter attached to Ben's single:

to the good people of college radio:

i've always been very grateful that despite the fact that i flunked out of college, i still have an occasional home on your radio station. i hope that my music sits nicely on on your playlist between tracks by 'santa's cock' and 'fucking death grip'. let my epic records promoter know you've been playing our new record and he'll make sure you get a bag of coke and tickets for the cat steven's concert. thanks a bunch for everything and don't forget to floss. you don't wanna come out of college stuck with a big dental bill in a few years.

I for one can not get enough of Mr. Folds, and this album is amongst my most anticipated of 05, along side of Aimee Mann's, Michael Penn's and that Morrissey live disc. Oh, and Eels too...

the new tracks on the "remastered" album are most likely to be amelia bright, tell me what i did, prince charming, and the secret life of morgan davis. i think that these were the last ben folds five songs that were recorded before the breakup.

for myself, i could do without ben folds solo. but boy, did i love me some ben folds five (right lucy? right?).

love, celine

oh! and breakup at the food court and carrying cathy. there's one more that i guess i've missed somewhere. oh well.

Given that it's a special edition "Whatever...", wouldn't the Japanese version of "Song for the Dumped" be natural (it's on the Japanese release of "Whatever")?

Also, I don't think "Tom and Mary" (1990 demo, on the Japanese self-titled) was ever released in the US.

"Tom and Mary" came out on Naked Baby Photos, I do believe.

i like how the coterie has invaded this stereogum post.

secret life of morgan davis appears on ben's Japanese EP release of rockin' the suburbs along with one down, girl, and make me mommy, and of course carrying cathy appears on the LP of that particular album, so I don't expect those to be amongst the lost tracks, I hope you are right about prince charming though. If these really are "lost" tracks, I would think they aren't anything that have been released, with the possible exception of the Japanese Song For the Dumped, because just about anything else released you can get looking up BFF singles on ebay, the anticipation is already getting to me...

you're thinking of ben folds solo stuff. there were ben folds five studio recordings of the tracks before the five broke up. they were playing them during their spring 1999 tour and said that they were being recorded for a future ben folds five album. after they broke up, ben recorded the stuff that he'd written on his own for his solo stuff, so that's where those tracks come from. but there are ben folds five versions of the tracks that are locked away in a sony vault somewhere, and these are the tracks that will most likely be used.

sorry, my nerdy, all-encompassing ben folds five knowledge must BE HEARD, no matter how embarrassing it might be. yay coterie.

i don't think those songs (tell me what i did, prince charming, etc.) would be considered "classic". They had a lot of other songs they recorded around that time (Mitchell Lane, Kalamazoo, Rocky, etc.), so I would think it would be those songs. It would just make more sense to include those songs with whatever and ever since they're from the same time period, but i'm only speculating.

anyone who is complaining about any new ben is a complete moron... it doesnt matter if its a solo album or lost tracks... ben folds is the greatest musician to ever live and ben folds five was the greatest band of all time... the fact the there will be new music two months in a row is fantastic... if you are complaining then dont buy it

I know what I was referring to involved ben's solo releases, it seems you may be missing the point of my last post, that if the songs have been released, even in a different form(being folds solo as opposed to bff), the songs aren't really lost as much as being offered in older forms. Of course it's possible that they may be used, but I would hope that we would see would be songs like rocky, for instance, songs you wouldn't find on any album or single previously released, whether by bff or the individual members themselves.

People don't "get over" music, what a stupid thing to say! If I got over the music that I like, there would be nothing else worth listening to. Rockin' the suburbs is a fantastic album, so why the hell should I ever "get over" it?! You're insane!
