Live 8, which coincides with the G8 summit in Scotland, is not a fundraiser. It's intended solely to raise awareness of world poverty.
No word yet if Phil Collins will play all five shows. Meanwhile Spice Girls ... DENIED.

Just Axl Rose? No Guns? Strange...

Wow, looks like the US got the worst lineup. But then again, at least half of our lineup isn't Faith Hill.

Oh goody. London gets all the great bands, we get effing Will Smith, Bon Jovi and Dave Matthews.
How about if I just send them a check instead of going?
Score = 0
I heard rumors that Springsteen and Dylan will be in Philly. All rumors at this point. But there will DEFINITELY be a lot more artists added.

Those poor Italians.

I can see it now P.Doofy being interviewed backstage saying that HE alone solved the whole world poverty problem, just by being at this concert and preforming with Maroon 5.
Bon Jovi, doing yet another accoustic version of "Livin on a prayer" and their dreadful cover of "Keep on rockin in the freeworld".
Mariah Scarey, pulling her whole bizzare diva trip thing saying that she remembers watching the original Live Aid in the 80's and I can see her coming out on stage with some seriously skanky 80's outfit. I'm so hoping Liam and Noel or Madge put her in her place and Joss Stone sooo upstages her (which isn't hard to do)!
What was the name of the concert that Bono and Wyclef put on a few years ago? It was the same concept as this show and it was for rasing money to solve the worlds poverty problems. They had one show going on at Giants Stadium in NJ and another in London and hardly anyone showed at either place. And if I remember a lot of the same artists that were on this bill were on that one.
Maybe Phil will play drums for Mariah in London and then play drums with Bon Jovi in Philly.

Live Aid in 1985 raised tens of millions of dollars to solve hunger in a country where 300,000 children will starve to death THIS YEAR. I'd save your check.

I think that concert was called Net.Aid, Grimmone.

I wonder which venue Crazy Frog will play.
Score = 0
Thanks Ron Mexico! I betcha that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie will be two of the celebs making stage announcements. And I'm sure Paris Hilton will fanagle her way into this somehow.

A-Ha are still around and nobody told me?
Score = 0
you know, they could've let the spice girls play philly, that way they wouldn't have been "gutted"...it's not like the lineup could suck harder.
Score = 0
Exactly, suitablegirl. What, Will Smith is better than the Spice Girls? Frankly, this may be my homosexual side talking, but I'd rather see the Spice Girls.
Score = 0
yeh, scissor sisters are appropriate, but the spice girls arent. thats great shit.
Score = 0
They're having a show in DC too? Bitchin'. We get Eminem, that ambassador to the world.
Score = 0
jesus, that sounds boring.

Poor of us Parisians,I really consider moving to England on that day!

Ha - We managed to kick Craig David & Jamiroquai over the channel! Take that Frenchies!!!
I wonder if the concert will put Annie Lennox in the running for yet another 'Best Female' brit award.
Hang on.... YANNICK NOAH????????? Doesn't he play tennis?

i look forward to the "crazy-off" contest in Berlin
David Crosby, Lauryn Hill & Brian Wilson all flinging pooh

The latest is that Whitesnake will reunite to play the Philly gig... AND Bobby McFerrin is writing a follow up to Don't Worry Be Happy and will debut it at the Rome show...

Ahhh that great statesmen 50 cent!

isn't it Axelle Red and not Axl Rose?

I heard that the kids from American Idol along with William Hung were going to play the Philly show to make the line up suck even more and Phil Collins was going to drum for them!
Score = 0
OMG OMG OMG I heard a rumor that Jim Morrison will come out of hiding and REVEAL HIMSELF at one of these shows! The remade version of "Love Me Two Times" will be performed by Snoop Dogg and Jim Morrisson entitled "I Hit It Two Times".
Score = 0
Weirdly enough, Placebo looks just as out of place to me as does Will Smith. I don't know. It makes sense for Will to be performing in Philly, anyway. I didn't know Placebo was into... causes.
Score = 0
I have the stream for "I Hit it Two Times"...should I post it? It's pretty tight...Snoop D-O-Double-G and Morrison flow and just when you think the song has climaxed, Nate Dog makes a cameo (cuz it must be a single if Nate Dog's singin' on it) and Kreiger, Densmore, Manzarek are all replaced by the crunk Lil Jon produced back beat. Pitchfork said, "We only gave it a 4.5 because Madlib isn't on it. More Madlib please."
Score = 0
yeah, post it!

personally, i really wanna see what axl is kicking around these days. ten bucks he goes for a bit of dylan desecration with "knock-knock-knockin awwwwn heaven's daw-aw-awwww".

Lets see some concerts in the freakin' places where poverty needs to alleviated. Come on guys give us some scraps - heck we'll take your washed out indie-has-beens, jaded minstrels and junkie crusties. Living in South Africa just ain't any fun if you enjoy concerts!!!!!!! All we get is crap with a capital F. Can we swop one Avril Lavine for an Arcade Fire, White Stripes and you get to keep the change?
Ho Hum! Complaints Complaints...... oh we'll get the money so stop bitchin I hears ya say...... there is such a thing as music poverty Fuzzy Geldof - please Sir can we have some more....
Score = 0
I can almost place money on the fact the Oprah and former President Clinton will be a part of this. I can see Oprah either at the Philly or London show talking about ways to eliminate poverty and then I can see her introducing either Mariah or P Diddy. And I can see Clinton introducing U2

What about New York City??????

in reply to G3k placebo do ALOT for good causes. It makes perfect sense to me, especially since they have an overwhelming fan base in France.

What about Pink Floyd? Their drummer has talked about performing together again with their original bass-player.

I think that Bob Geldof, Midge Ure and all of the artists playing at Live 8 Concerts all around the world are all living legends in their own right.
We should all try and take a leaf out of their books and put our talents to good use.
For anyone who criticises these concerts, stop being so selfish and appreciate what these people are trying to acheive.
Score = 0
wtf is this all about how come London has all the really great bands ??? ugh ....
Score = 0
Andybfc, do you honestly think that P.Diddy and Mariah and some of the other artists who are playing this concert i.e. The Spice Girls, Maroon 5, Axl Rose, Jay-Z and the Gallagher brothers really genuinely care about eliminating poverty?
While I agree with you on Bob Geldof and Midge Ure IMHO I think the artists mentioned above are playing this show for ego to show everyone what good people they are!
Score = 0
It's not Axl Rose. It;s Axelle Red.
Score = 0
In response to your comments Grimmone, I think that it is wrong to accuse these people of taking part in these concerts for the wrong reasons, have you ever spoken to them about it? Although I do agree some artists might have alternative motives for taking part, at the end of the day they are all giving up their time and talents for a good cause which is enough to earn my respect.
Innocent until proven guilty.
Score = 0
AXL ROSE????
it's true?????????
Score = 0
Yeah I'm sure that there are artists on this bill who are doing this for all the right reasons i.e Sarah McLouglin, U2, REM etc but honestly Andybfc to me artists like P.Diddy and The Spice Girls are doing this to make themselves look like good caring people.
Score = 0
To me its like all the celebs who did that vote or die thing and who didn't bother to vote or who only voted once in about 12 years. While I'm sure that there are celebs out there whose hearts are in the right places and who do what they say there are others out there who to me just do things like this to make themselves look good and they could give a hoot about the cause.
Score = 0
WHY DOES THE PHILLY LINE UP SUCK SO BAD

AXL ROSE WHERE ARE YOU ???

I have some affection for the Floyd. I use to visit their music empire at Britannia Row off the Essex road N1 when I was a kid.
Do hope they play Money and PROOVE they are being ironic.
They DID “Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash” – even when I bought a Quad Amp from them.
Money, get away.
Get a good job with good pay and you’re okay.
Money, it’s a gas.
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I’ll buy me a football team.
Money, get back.
I’m all right jack keep your hands off of my stack.
Money, it’s a hit.
Don’t give me that do goody good bullshit.
I’m in the high-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a lear jet.
Money, it’s a crime.
Share it fairly but don’t take a slice of my pie.
Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today.
But if you ask for a raise it’s no surprise that they’re
Giving none away.

Re: The relationship between the Music industry and the Arms industry and poverty and starvation.
Stop the arms trade – stop poverty?
I wonder how much money generated by record companies though increase product sale from Live 8 will find its way into the weapons manufacturing. AND how many people in Africa and Iraq etc will be killed by these weapons?
Can someone please pass this on the Bob Geldof and Bono

Im a firm admirer of Bob Geldof. instead of debating the issues he went out and did it. he didnt sit around. you have to hand it to him.
he is doing something to help others. thats what the people who criticize him should keep in mind

what about led zeppelin and the who where are they? i know that some of them are dead bur most of them are alive, if they played much more intrest would be gathered in trying to elliminate poverty.
Score = 0
were are led zeppelin know that they sucked at live aid but they should reform and prove every one wrong and show their might and suppiriorority still in the rock world since the 70s,
also, what about the who they kicked ass at live aid. who are you, wont get folled again and my generation what great rock songs,
by getting bands like this more awareness will be raised not with bands like spice girls!

“Keep on rockin in the freeworld" with JonBon, Dave and Eddie Vedder, now that would be worth the price of admission.
