Lohan Hits Minnesota

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune is reporting that Lindsay got bratty at a local vintage clothing store. She's on location filming Robert Altman's A Prairie Home Companion. That's him in the wheelchair.

Link via BWE. I feel sorta bad making fun of Robert Altman, but he hasn't made a good movie in ten years. And he doesn't read blogs. So hands off our Lohan, Rob.

Scott, not to film-nerd it out, but Altman has, in fact, made a good film in the past ten years. (That would be Gosford Park. Oh and The Company is pretty good, too.) I will concede that The Gingerbread Man sucks ass. Oh and Dr. T. is pretty bad. And Cookie Fortune... And... aw, fuck it.

okay i did some quick digging.. she apparently was in Minneapolis, at this trendy place called Chino Latino.

>The New York Post reports Lindsay Lohan is continuing her minor in consumption habits, boozing it up the other night at Chino Latino restaurant in St. Paul, Minnesota, where she's shooting 'A Prairie Home Companion.' The source claimed, "We wouldn't have even noticed her if it hadn't been for her stupid hat."

it's not in st. paul. it's in minneapolis.

Gosford Park was tedious and took forever to get where it was going. Bob's last great movie was The Player--13 long years ago.

Gosford Park was amazing. I wonder what the plot will be to Prairie Home Companion. I listen to the show every weekend, but I can't imagine it being a film.

Dr. T sucked ass and it had Shelley Long. Gosford Park was spectacular - Helen Mirren was robbed of an Oscar because no matter how many times I watch it I also tear up at the end with her.

C'mon, the obvious headline here should have been "Feeling Minnesota". See, 'cuz it's a film title, and they're in Minnesota and he's a director and feeling her up, and, and... Ah, forget it.

All the "have a sandwich" remarks aside, Lindsay looks good there. Would look better with her original hair color, but still hawt.

The most depressing part of this all is that Altman has gone from making great films like "McCabe & Mrs. Miller," "The Long Goodbye," "California Split," "Nashville," and "3 Women" to shooting a Lindsay Lohan movie. Please Robert Altman, just die already so you can't tarnish your legacy any more by refusing to retire. You haven't made a great film since "Short Cuts" in 1992, and filming a movie with Lindsay Lohan won't bring you back to greatness.

And if you really think Gosford Park represents good Altman, please do yourself a favor and watch some of the films listed above.

making a lindsay lohan movie isn't necessarily problematic. just 2 1/2 years ago, she was thought of as a promising young actress with good comedic timing. she's just become cracked out and stupid. it's not necessarily permanent. she's 19. i'm 27 now and if you had followed me around when I was 19, the headlines would have been something like: "sex addict stoned again." That said, she seems pretty stupid. right now, it's a function of age but she better watch out.

The basic premise for the film is what happens backstage at the last taping of Prairie Home Companion. I wouldn't call it a Lindsay Lohan film so much as I would call it a Meryl Streep, Tommy Lee Jones, Kevin Kline, John C. Reilly, Woody Harrelson, Maya Rudolph or Lily Tomlin film.

PS: AlanRudolph, I have seen all the early Altman films you've mentioned and I still think Gosford Park is a great movie. So now what? My suggestion: a razor fight.

As far as I know, Robert Altman isn't confined to a wheelchair, he's 80 years old however, so either he was using it to rest or for a cheaply done tracking shot, I'd probably say he's just very old and tired and doesn't have the energy to waste on walking from set to set.

I know it's not a Lindsay Lohan film, and as Altman is an ensemble director, her role probably won't even be particularly large nor will she get any close ups as Altman is somewhat infamous for refusing to give his big stars. I'd just rather not see him making what could very well be his last film with her in it.

Oh well, Robert Altman always said he'd work until the day he died, and it looks like he intends to keep that promise.

robert altman! wasn't anyone forced to watch "images" in postmodern film theory class? oh wait, i was the only idiot who was obsessed with that film, and the really hilarious (but not intentionally so) film "don't look now" starring one of those odious sutherlands. oh i'm such a liar. i'd totally bang kiefer if i ran into him at a bar. especially at the bar.

One of the alterna-weeklies in Mpls. once labeled Chino-Latino (where Lohan was last week) the worst restaraunt in the Cities. To paraphrase, the review said it was where every suburban asshole with a leather jacket and $200 to blow goes on a Friday night. Truer words were never written. If she was cool she'd have gone anywhere in NE.

no no "Don't Look Now" is by Nick Roeg. but i just saw Images, it's incredible! 3 Women too...soo dreamy and good. yeah Altman's heydey was great. i agree, it's pretty gross he's using Lyndsay now but also "Prarie Home Companion" annoys the hell out of me and i doubt i'd want to see a movie of it. ick.

oh man, im going to lose it soon. i live in mpls and i cant go anywhere without someone trying to 'spot' lohan, im getting really sick of this bs. these[us] midwesterners need to get a hobby, maybe instead of just 'spotting' her and then txt'in everyone they know, see if you can get a few cheeseburgers in her or something. although i did hear she got denied from club the other night for "not having her id on her".

You're exactly right. I noticed that too in an old photoset where she was getting into her car after a workout at the gym. Can't for the life of me find a link to those anymore.

Two things:

1) I am so bummed out that LL has been cast in this movie. I have loved Prairie Home Companion for many years and I can't believe that they cast a coked-out scandal queen in ANY role. I could be wrong, but I read this as more of a publicity thing than a talent thing, kinda like Tom* and Katie's "love match." They prolly figure that without someone like her, only the geriatric set will buy tickets to such a homey film.

2) I admit, I'm probably a lot older than most of y'all and had no clue until very recently who LL even was, other than all the "scandal" she's caused. So when I recently saw a scene from her version of Parent Trap, I was stunned. That's who Lindsay Lohan is??? She was adorable! WTF happened to her???

*Why doesn't Tom just admit he's gay? No one cares anymore, and this beard is so thin that he oughta just shave it off. We'd all have a lot more respect for him if he did.

rachel, i know that altman didn't do "don't look now" but i meant to say that i was obsessed with both of those films in my class a few years ago...like jotting down notes while watching it and constantly trying to find freud quotes to back up my lame theories obsessed.
next: my paper on why that surfing movie w/ keanu reeves and patrick swayze is the gayest thing ever...HA HA HA
