Quote Of The Day
Bob Odenkirk to LA Times: "People have fun saying negative stuff about Meg White. If you don't get why she's great, crank up the Toto."
Weird, I swear I was gonna post this last week (I Love The '80s and all).
Toto - "Africa" (MP3)
Guilty pleasure I guess. But this guy really loves Toto if you crave more (or really hate Meg White).

Wow, funnily enough I don't like the White Stripes, but think Roseanna is among the great songs of the eighties. What a great musical feud that would be. White Stripes vs. Toto, the new Nas vs. Jay-Z.

I love Bob Odenkirk and especially the Stripes, but what does Meg have to do with Toto? or am I just being stupid....

The last fifty seconds is just the instrumental hook -- someone should grab a few measures and mash it. I don't think I've ever heard a Toto bootleg.

hah, a Toto bootleg. unthinkable.

I really wanna bang Meg.
Badly.

...once again, what does Meg have to do with Toto?

I agree wholeheartedly with Matt (I was about to say that "I agree firmly" but the sexual innuendo would have been too blatant).
I never thought a chick playing the drums could ever be such a hot thing to see...

"If you don't get why she's great, crank up the Toto." UH, Still not getting this. Am I missing something? Someone please explain this.

I kinda like Toto, like a lot. Go Pocaro brothers!

I guess the point is that Toto songs are about as limp as they come, with no real drum in the mix and certainly nothing as aggressively pounded out as Meg's sound.
Also, if you had bothered to actually read that Toto info site you'd linked to, you would have found the following: "I don’t really know what makes a hardcore Toto fan tick — I just think the fact that they’ve managed to persist for almost 30 years now is deeply fascinating, and even sort of admirable. I guess what it boils down to is that this Guide will probably contain a lot of lukewarm reviews, backhanded compliments, and even a few snarky comments, but it’s all in good fun."
In other words, the guy's an all-around music obsessive, not a Toto obsessive, and in fact he says he's not even much of a fan. He's just on a mission to educate the universe, I guess.

Toto > Meg White. "Hold The Line" cannot be touched by any simple drumming.

You laugh: Rune Linbaek has done an awesome re-edit of 'Africa' (it was on American Athlete a while back). Missing the rains down in Africa - all the best from Johannesburg.
