New We Are Scientists Video - "It's A Hit"

As long as we're doing videos for Stereogum favorites, we can't not give a shoutout to We Are Scientists, who, in addition to being on Letterman tonight (see previous post) are playing Spin's Year in Music party. If you, like me, couldn't make it tonight, and you, like Leno, won't be watching the Late Show, you can get your fix with the latest video from WAS, "It's a Hit".

This one's just about the exact opposite of the video for "Nobody Move", and it's not the only one for this song- catch the trailer for the next one. Why so many? Well, from their news page:

And of course, creatures of rigid habit that we are, we shot another video. This one's for It's A Hit, which will be our next single in both the U.S. and the U.K., and will be out around the beginning of the year. Didn't we already shoot a video for It's a Hit? For the DVD? Yes we did. But you can never have too many videos, and you can never have enough videos, and so by this time next year we'll probably have shot half a dozen videos for every song on the album. Which has never been done before, supposedly.

this band sucks. the letterman performance was really bad, probably because that song is insultingly stupid and boring.

What's with all the haters? This band is awesome, and that's one of the best songs on their album! The Letterman performance was quite good. What's with all these hipster claims? WAS has absolutely no following on any American scene yet... just the British fans and the longtime American fans. And they happen to be awesome. Don't believe me? Check out their old album on Nebulize My Mind dot com.

Anyone who has seen a live WAS show knows that they bring an energy that couldn't be felt during a one song performance such as the letterman one. Go see them live and then make your judgements.

I love the video. And I thought they were great on letterman. does WAS have some hipster cred and tendencies? Sure. Are they incredibly nice guys? Absolutely. Do they make fun music and very entertaining videos? Hell yeah. No reason to hate them. They're not even big enough for backlash yet, are they?

the more videos they put out, the better the world will be.

WAS is the idealized eternal, through the fairy lens of European capital. The American oligarchy was always a becoming for them and so the only answer was found in a false past made grotesque through song.

Here in the UK, some of us have been loving WAS for most of 2005 - saw them live for the first time in Spring and have been privileged to watch them perform four more times since then.

Needless to say, I think they ROCK: I adore their stuff - their humour and personalities combine well with their fantastic musical ability and they are SUPERB live. The Letterman performance was NOTHING like as good as they normally are.

You lot in the States will love them too, in time. I guarantee it.

Some of us "lot in the States" have been loving them since 2001, though not nearly enough of us. I'm glad to see they're finally starting to make it.

That video was fabulous, not to mention hilarious. We Are Scientists are just splendid, as was the Letterman performance, even though they were nervous. They just rock

WAS are very good- they are pretty hot in Britain at the moment with the alt/indie scene here, I don't know if they are that big in the states, but they are definately going to get even bigger. Very geeky-cool.

omg that was great.
for the first 30 seconds I thought it was frozen or whatever but then I noticed the trees moving and they blink every once in a while
I love Keith Murray. a beagle, hah <3
but I still think The Great Escape video was the best one

Band To Watch: Blank Dogs

Blank Dogs are actually singular: It's the insanely prolific one-man Brooklyn-based band of Mr. Blank Dog. We don't know too much about the biography of the guy behind the bedroom new-wave pop/punk and he's usually covering his face with masks...
