Merry Christmas from the 9th Circle of Hell

Patton Oswalt's got this great bit about playing the Alvin & the Chipmunks Christmas album at the slowest possible speed, so that the chipmunks sounded like spacy monotonous guys schlepping through a carol. The hillarious side effect is that "Dave" ends up sounding "this demon from, like, the ninth level of traitors and murders, just screaming at them." It's really funny, and easy to imagine, but I always wondered what it sounded like. Mostly because I was too lazy to do it myself. I mean, you see my lazy posts. You get me.

Well, thanks to Patton fan Kevin "Time on My Hands" Roache, you can hear it in weirdly enjoyable mashup format. Is there a little Queen in there? Are they the cilantro of mashups?

this is THE christmas jam of the year. we used to do this as kids, only with the "chipmunks sing the Beatles" record.

Hahaha... if queen is the cilantro of mash-ups... Michael Jackson is the parsley of bootlegs.

Wow. I am normally not a fan of mash-ups and the thought of Alvin and the Chipmunks Christmas will probably undo years of therapy. but it has all been worth it to hear this. Thanks.

The main musical portion of the mash-up in this track (when the piano comes in through the finish) is Royksopp's "Triumphant" from their recent album The Understanding.

That is... if anyone was wondering (or cared ;)

All in all, it works pretty well together.

I feel much better about the fact that I used actual money to BUY the Chipmunks Christmas song on iTunes last week.

Rad.

FYI... the main song in the mix (besides Chipmunks) is Röyksopp - "Triumphant" ( http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0009RQRP6/amb )
Check it out, good stuff.

Weezer is the chipotle of mashups - found everywhere these days, always sounds like a good idea, but just gives you a tummyache.
