We Hate The '80s: Sam Kinison's "Wild Thing" Video

Thanks Mo for making us relive Sam Kinison's "Wild Thing" video (feat. Jessica Hahn, Aerosmith, Billy Idol, Ratt & more):

  • Superfluous fog effects
  • Synchronized fist-pumping of Richie Sambora and Robbin Crosby (Ratt)
  • Steve Tyler's godawful dancing
  • Sam Kinison's misogynistic ad-libbing ("Every time I kiss you, I taste what other men had for lunch")
  • SEVEN guitarists soloing, including CC DeVille
  • Sam Kinison parodying Robert Palmer's "Simply Irresistible" video
  • Sam Kinison and Jessica Hahn wrestling on the floor
And that's just for starters.

Actually, a nice companion piece to the Scott Stapp/Kid Rock video from yesterday!

Loving this IS wrong. Very wrong.

As a fan of at least half these jokers when this song was released ... this is, without a doubt, the most disposable piece of 80s crap ever to be shit out of the ass-end of a dying millenium.

Thank you for posting this. I'm going to go die now.

The sequels are a must. Kinison filmed videos for his (somewhat awful) covers of "Under My Thumb" and "Mississippi Queen".

"Under My Thumb" is "Wild Thing" lite. It's got Ozzy Osbourne, David Faustino, Paul Williams, and Kari Wuhrer, with Dweezil Zappa screaming the solos.

"Mississippi Queen" is a tragedy of epic proportions. Kinison sports a bald cap and prances his way through a parody of Sinead O'Connor's "Nothing Compares 2 U" video. It's so awful, it's painful.

I haven't seen them anywhere other than MTV Overdrive, but they're there. Yikes.

What was that noise? Oh, that's right -– the sound of the Seventh Seal being broken.

With pick squeals!

Look, as bad as this video is, you have to hand it to Sam Kinison. He meant for it to be funny. How many things not only stay funny, but get funnier with age?

this just sucks especially when your bandwith stops the video on especially sucky moments like a close up shot of Billy Idol's stupid mug or Kinison fake soloing or Tommy Lee overplaying the drums...

Billy Idol looks like he just kind of wandered in and thought it was a real strip club, and all his buddies just happened to be there.

Now I know why most of them were high or drunk for most of the 80s. Yeesh.

no, the one thing that really blows my mind in this is why jessica hahn, with her pick of PRETTY MUCH EVERY AWESOME 80s ROCKER EVER, goes for that fugly asshole.

Enormous muff, enormous ovaries.

Did Sam realize back then that a hair metal sausage party was funny?

you fuckers are all a bunch of assholes who are making fun of guys who made ten times the money you make today made way better music than the shit you probably hear (like fucking moby, i mean what the fuck is that?)and... oh, yes they nailed the hottest chics for years, so before you say all that bullshit start thinking a little bit and see how sad and pathetic you all are compared to those guys, i mean sure the 80's passed but fuck men, they're still cool, so... FUCK YOU!!! SUCKERS

I love this video. You can tell on there faces they had so much fun shooting this clip. In another Guns n`Roses video i saw Slash wearing the same t-shirt Steven Tyler is wearing in this video.
I wish we could have again the audience for a rock band (like in the 80`s), but that is highly unlikely since everyone listens only crapy music.
I want to see a band who doesn`t give a shit about anything but there music.. now we apreciate the singers only for the way they look.. it`s sad!

just coz you hate it doesnt mean that we all have to. i reckon its pretty pathetic to say shit about bands that obviously have made a (good) impact in music and such. they had talent. now a days you just have to be alright looking and your set for life.

Sam Kinison was very funny until 1988 or so when he became a "star". Then he got too full of himself and would rather get fucked up with that slimy lowlife gang of cokeheads, hangers on and diseased bimbo skanks he hung out with instead of working on his comedy. He was also a bullying asshole to a lot of people and somebody should've beat the living shit out of him in public. That would've humbled him a bit. His first HBO special and the 2 Rodney Dangerfield specials he did were brilliant, but his later shows come on like some kind of dumbass redneck circus (just watch his second and last HBO special) and he wasn't that funny anymore. Maybe if he'd lived he would've gotten it together, but that's doubtful. He probably would've had a heart attack due to his morbid obesity and intake and died gurgling a mouth full of vomit. His best work was behind him and he's mostly forgotten now.
