While you wait to hear from us if you won, check out the wealth of random Neil Young music videos on YouTube. I'm sure you've seen "This Note's For You" (it even won an MTV VMA, I think), but what about:
"Wondering" from Everybody's Rocking?
"Touch The Night" from Landing On Water?
"Over & Over" from Ragged Glory?
There's even some Bernard Shakey action.
But, here's my favorite of the bunch: Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young performing "Down By The River." Neil joined CS&N (fun fact: Phil Hartman designed their logo) a month after Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere's release in May '69. Not sure if this video's from late '69 or early '70, or what TV show it's from, but a good way to start your week. (UPDATE: Eric from MarathonPacks tell us the clip is from the series permiere of ABC's Music Scene 9/22/1969.)

As for song: "Ordinary People" (played on the BlueNotes tour), "Don't be Denied," "Hurricane," "Campaigner," and the highly under-rated "T-bone" from "Re-Act-Or" (hell, you can't beat such lyric greatness as, "got mashed potatoes, ain't got no t-bone").

It's a five-way tie album-wise, though if you make me pick one, I'd pick the first.
Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere- minimalism in rock at its best.
Time Fades Away- a portrait of torture, money certainly didn't make his life any easier.
Trans- nobody even came close to Young in regards to trying different kinds of music. Also features a few tracks with Young on bass, an instrument he's quite adept at but rarely plays.
Ragged Glory- proves that old guys can still rock (even if it leaves "Don't Spook The Horse" off).
Silver and Gold- if only for "Buffalo Springfield Again".
Songwise, definitely "Campaigner".

My Mother acquired Neil Young music for me in 1964 and 1965. The remainder of her life we visited and always listened to 'Neil' first then relaxed and spoke about the beauty of the words and how they applied in our lives. She is gone now but I do the same thing with my two teenagers [we listen and I encourage and discuss -not tell or instill what to think- in those young minds; with their Mother, the begetter of all innocent children]. I owe my fifty years of life to Neil Young and those 'imaginary horrible' times when his music brought me from darkness to intellectual light. I stayed with Neil from those mid-sixties to now with my 'mentor' and musician and writer who never let me down when I need a hand up [and not a hand out] in life. Thank you Neil Young on behalf of Mrs. Callihan {god bless her soul} and her foresight in teaching me how to embrace an 'ethics of care for those less fortunate than I' in our hours upon hours listening to Mr. Young and his friends play music that we innately understood.
Respectfully submitted,

I happen to be a big fan of Landing on Water, from the controversial Geffen period. "Touch the Night" is a great video directed by the magnificent Tim Pope. It's shot in what appears to be one lengthy take, but I believe there's a single edit in there.
I seem to recall a second video from the album, with Neil fully clothed in a swimming pool. Was it for "Weight of the World"? And why do I think it was directed by Timothy Hutton, who later directed Neil's Freedom?

I don't think any artist has as many clasic albums as Neil. Weld is my hands down favourite. My brother gave me the tapes when I was 10, and that was my first taste of real Rock and Roll. Weld is THE prime example of Neil and Crazy Horse at their full out heaviest, and a showcase of what they're capable of live. I also saw Neil Young play in 1996. Listening to his albums and actually seeing him tear the shit out of Old Black on stage are two totally different things. You have to feel the wall of sound. Nothing compares to that.
It always sickens me when people my age(22ish) say they don't like Neil Young. They don't like him because they think it's uncool to like Classic Rock. Hell no, it's criminal NOT to like Neil Young. Listen to Rockin' in the Free World(my favourite song by anyone). Listen to Hey Hey, My My(From Rust Never Sleeps, Live Rust, and Weld). Listen to Powderfinger, Like a Hurricane, Southern Man, Ohio, Cortez, Mansion on the Hill, Heart of Gold, Down by the River, Helpless etc.(and it's a very huge etc.) How many artists even have as many songs as Neil has absolutely amazing legendary songs?
