There is a very, very good chance that David Bowie is the coolest person on the planet. Seriously, think about it.

I thought so too, until I saw The Man Who Fell to Earth. Just ///dreadful///.

I read he's playing Tesla in the new Bale/Jackman magician movie "The Prestige"...cause of that, they could have Rob Schneider and Eddie Griffin in the Bale/Jackman roles and I'd probably still see it.

Yet another reason Bowie is, as someone already said, one of the coolest people ever. Worthy of the OLest of Ls.

This is so awesome.

However, it makes me a little sad. After years of suspecting that he was some kind of ageless superhuman being, Bowie is actually... looking... old.

"Extras" is off to an awesome start in Series 2. As good as Bowie was in this episode, Orlando Bloom was equally funny (but way more self-abusive) in the first one.

Cool? Ageless? Are we blind as well as stupid? He's a pompous jerk! It's not "Cool" putting someone down. Only fags do that, that shriveled old fart who fell to earth. Him and Heff would make a great set of bookends.

Yeah, but it's really cool to call someone a fag.

*yawn*

Get a sense of humour - Ricky Gervais has one. And anyway, that was Bowie playing Bowie as a character - a parody of a pompous rock star.

I love Bowie! I have always loved Bowie, since I was a little girl watching his Glass Spider concert and Labyrinth every single weekend. And now to see him in a comedy... that clinches it.

I think I'm in love.

Have his baby you slut! That funny? You pathetic looser! Are you laughing? I didn't think so and nothing cool or funny in the clip either, but a great example of man's inhumanity towards man under the guise of a comedic farce. Bowie, what a turd. Hitler had the same sense of humor.

Hannah doesn't need a hug, she's right. Why is it funny for Bowie to put someone down and not when someone else does it? The truth is, a great person of character doesn't have to resort to that. Bowie show's that he is niether great nor a person of character. Bowie, a parody of a slime bucket. Right-on Hannah! You RULE!

Do people not understand that when people guest on Extras they are playing parodies of either themselves or pompous celebrities in general? Does anyone think Daniel Radcliffe (Mr. Harry Potter) goes around making rude hand gestures all the time?

Posted by: D'oh! at 09/29/06 9:01 PM | Reply

If you guys don't understand that it was comedy and that he put himself in the position to be made fun of for comedy, then you're idiots!
Why even watch half of the videos on here if you can't understand that?

Ridiculous!!!

Bowie is awesome and he hasn't lost it yet.

I laughed until I cried! I am also a professional musician and I was impressed with his ability to play "live" in that context. He's one of those guys who gets "cooler" with age. He reinvents himself all the time while still keeping his musical integrity. He never tries to be something that he can't be. And THAT is refreshing!

I didn't think the cynicism was really towards the degraded values that rule our lives. Rather it verified and strenghened them while pretending to put them to farce.

It didn't make me laugh, it made me sad.

What a refreshing and fascinating way to see one of the all-time (if not THE) one true original rock/progressive musical entity in the world. He enhances is style simply by sitting behind a keyboard but says so much by the humor, song and even how they (and I will say they) incorporate all the actors .. from the looks, to the perfectly timed comments at this 'cocktail party'! Who else could take this extra skit and make it look so awesome, real and hilarious. I suppose those who are irate never watch Saturday Night Live or Madd TV, etc??? Go save the world.....oh, by the way .. I have sympathy, compassion and love and respect for humanity - countless times I have cried over a lousy commercial, and yes, I do put my money where my mouth is and contribute to many worthy causes and also give time within my community. But this IS comedy people ......... lighten up and enjoy this timeless piece!!!
