Ferraby Lionheart @ Pianos, NYC 10/11/06

Well, that was fast. Ferraby's gone from unknown to beloved (by us) in a span of 24 hours. Impressive! After telling you to watch out for him, it was only fair for us to do the same -- and so we braved the rain and hit Pianos for Lionheart's NYC debut (before running to Webster for Basement Jaxx -- post TK).

The set was solo, and hearing the tunes stripped of Ferraby's deft arrangements and harmonies was a great way to get to know the guy. When he's at his piano, there's a lot of Rufus Wainwright -- from posture to melody to waltzing chord inversions -- and it sounds great. But he leaves Rufus with his guit-and-harmonica folk. Ferraby's got dimension, songs, and a crazy fucking name (by birth!). What's not to love?

One more song from his EP for ya. (It was too good last night not to post!)

Ferraby Lionheart - "Tickets To Crickets" (MP3)

Enjoy.

hey scott - you were at bjaxx? i was there too. never seen such a jumping crowd before, amazing show.

i am sure you'll post more about it but...i was all like....wow.

i was kinda drunk too so i think that helped a lot.

the 1 song encore was kind of a bummer though - i really wanted to hear "crazy itch radio" but...alas...no lead off single.
