New Tenacious D Video - "Classico"

This isn't the first time the Spümcø crew (of Ren & Stimpy fame) have collabed with The D -- that would be the touching clip for "Fuck Her Gently" -- but this premiere just may get ya to change your vote on whether Jack Black is the douche. It's like the movie trailer -- but animated! And even though it's set to a Bach piece in E minor, you may wanna get some headphones on to avoid nasty looks from you co-workers.

Tenacious D in The Pick Of Destiny is in theaters 11/22, with the soundtrack out 11/14.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks that "Ren and Stimpy" and/or SpumCo is entirely overrated.

As for the song, it wasn't really much of one. I really liked all the other stuff the D has done, but there's something about this movie that makes me nervous.

John K is nowhere near as funny or brilliant as he seems to think. Neither is Jack Black.
I didn't laugh once and had a hard time keeping up with the spumco brand of ADD animation.
Have you ever read John K's blog? He's a bit of a douche.
There is no way possible this movie will be funnier than Borat and will therefore be entirely overshadowed. If this clip is any indication, perhaps this is for the best.

It was okay I suppose, but I really prefered the trailor with this song.

Great song, just a little short in my opinion

I loved that clip, not enough old school hand drawn animation IMO.I think the cutting matches the crazy pace of the song. Check the bjork video john K did for "miss you".

ll cool f, your a moron. Don't EVER say that the D movie will be overshadowed. Especially by Borat which looks incredibly stupid. In my opinion, theres no way you can base a movie off of a cartoon music video from a 1 minute and 25 second music video. The D movie will be amazing, but I will admitt that this particular music video was confusing and didn't meet normal Tenacious D standards.

Yeah, this clip puts doubt in my mind about the D movie. And I'll agree about John K - he seems to think that Nickelodeon should've let him be A LOT ruder and cruder than they let him. Kinda pompous. Think about the kids John, the kids!

Jack Black needs to be taken out back, hosed down, shaved and liposuctioned. He is painfully unfunny, and the embodiment of the Hipster Douchebag.

The Pick of Destiny is actually a real movie?

I've seen the other video, for the title song... not sure how i feel about the idea. I have a very love/hate relationship with Jack Black, I honestly don't find him all that entertaining. But, just for kicks, I may actually go see the movie... i have a thing for bad movies.

awesome video, great designs and color, and song... sheer perfection! and you guys are showing your colors as a bunch of jealous bastards who probably can't draw... i wonder what other cartoons you watch and criticise the directors by name? if you're going to try to insult John K, why don't you say what cartoons or animation you do like and think is good then we'll probably see that your opinions are pretty worthless. Great video but HIGHER QUALITY Resolution version would be super great!

loved the music...but since Ren & Stimpy always left me cold and extremely un-amused...I'd say ditch the Ren & Stimpy guys. Because Ren & Stimpy were stupid. Not funny stupid. But stupid stupid.

I think the Beavis & Butthead, or even Groenig guys would be a much better match, if you feel the need to go with cartoons.

You guys don't need cartoons.

One wonders how so many people with such a low opinion of Jack Black/John K end up watching a video by them both... Then commenting on it... There's plenty of shit on the internet that I think sucks, but the great thing is... I don't have to watch it. Tenacious D rocks my fucking face off!

When the D came out up until their hiatus starting in 2002 I was a HUGE fan of the them BUT now the hiatus lasted too long and I just don't enjoy their new songs and the trailor looks bad. In 2004, when I first heard about them making a movie I was stoked and now, 2 years later, I just couldn't care anymore. JB went on to make a movie career and the D to me is dead. I doubt this movie will do well.

I Love the D, And for all those people out there slating the film already, please remember why you love the d in the first place, It's because of the fact they aint releasing serious heart wrenching stuff are they, It's fun and thats what this video is supposed to be and so is the film, Jeez you all whinge about a film then when they do you whine about that too, You cant judge the D on this video alone, It's like a minute long, and well i cant really see it being played on Top of the pops can you, So give them a break and accept the D for what they are and what they are doing, Just having a kick ass time, you dont have to listen.....

But this one is a steaming streaming pile of manure. Sorry by why does John K. seem to think that Anthropomorphized hypersexual animals are the height of brilliance?

I've read through all of these and see many valid points. Being a musician/singer/songwriter I have to wonder where everything is headed. That is how I put food on the table.

There are so many sides to this coin. I've considered the option of giving music away to reach more people and draw more to shows. But on the other hand, the recording is so expensive to make for most. I'm lucky because I've put money aside and have my own studio now, but most don't get the chance to do that.

I don't see how piracy can be stopped, it's too fucking easy. What I would like to see are ideas that can help bridge this gap for musicians. I read a book on Jimmy Bowen ( famed producer) that was talking about the jump in price from CD to cassette. It was because CD's were more expensive to make. In a short amount of time the price of manufacturing came down, but since the public was used to paying it, the price remained the same. The record companies got fat and lazy while most artists went broke ( see any behind the music). I can see where people are pissed at "the man" with due right. But, that still leaves "johnny in the garage and a demo" to be the whipping boy.

Other than being bored tonight, I guess I'm just looking for some positive input about the uncertain future that lies ahead for a lot of us. To paraphrase a quote I can't even remember who said..."necessity breed creativity". I guess I could google that instead typing this. Shit, maybe I said that...

So many people bitch and moan about how they don't get it or just really hate it...but I think they are not looking at the big picture...firts off, this clip is a cartoon (the key word being "cartoon"), second: its a really well made cartoon if I might say myself, and third: its made for a song by the D and the D are great...they may be disturbing to some but to me..well...I get what they are...its a little something called Comedy...and yes the word "fuck" can be very comical...and yes I suppose they do make money off the songs they write, I mean why not? they wrote them! You don't hear anyone bitching about all the comedians who use the word "fuck" in movies do we now? Like in "American Pie" for instance, "Stifler" has a very small vocabulary...mostly "fuck", "pussy" and a few other words like that..
Anyway...

So I say: "Long live the D..."
and to those who bitch about all this...well, let's see you write songs and make albums and make movies...
