New Bright Eyes - "Endless Entertainment"

Conor took it easy on '06 after the double dip of Digital Ash In A Digital Urn and I'm Wide Awake It's Morning, but Billboard reports that he'll be back on the scene early next year with Cassadaga, a full-length featuring M. Ward, Sleater-Kinney drummer Janet Weiss, and the revelator herself, Gillian Welch. Before that comes the 3/6 release of the Four Winds EP, offering a six-song sample of the tunes from the subsequent album.

And Conor's holiday gift to you: A free, new song! Grab it at thisisbrighteyes.com. (Thanks, juano!) Annoyingly, it's a .wma file, which means we haven't had a chance to hear it yet. Anyone know good programs for .wma playing/converting on Mac? Sick of this shite! We just wanna listen to our Bright Eyes in peace.

Cassadaga is out 4/10 on Saddle Creek.

UPDATE: Who needs .wma when you got MP3? (Thanks, Anthony!)

Bright Eyes - "Endless Entertainment" (MP3)

Enjoy the brass.

I just get done with my defense of Silent Shout, not like it needs it, to find a post about fucking Bright Eyes.
I'd be really upset if I weren't so chilly and European.
Actually, I'm from Omaha.
Zing!
The news is the news, I guess.
I'll be ducking Creekers in about five days.
Those mopey indierock staredowns followed by a quick looking-down upon making eye contact have become a home-for-Xmas tradition at the Niner and the Bruddahs.

Conor must feel better these days, it's a happy sunny bright song... Not the usual bright eyes sound.

why would you make it such a pain in the tits to listen to something for free?

major faux pas.

EasyWMA used to be freeware and now I think there is a charge.

I am also looking for a solid FLAC converter. In case you find one just hanging around.

Flip4Mac keeps telling me that's a DRMed WMA file, so it can't play it. Why DRM a free download? Seriously, who does that?

If you download it and add it to your itunes library, it should automatically convert it to an mp4.

For Bright Eyes, this really isn't bad. It's less whiney than usual.

And iTunes converts .wma files for me..

Flip for Mac says it is a protected file when I try to play it in Safari. Tried to open it with Windows Media Player in Firefox--no go.

for the record, this isn't new: it's actually from the January 2005 "Wide Awake" tour (previously titled "Karat/Diamond").

(NPR hosted the full DC gig, with this included; also found a demo on the "Bright Eyes" myspace page, which I'll post if there's a significant desire.)

Guess we can also expect re-titled studio recordings of "I Must Belong Somewhere," "Hell is Coming, Hell is Here," and "Soul Singer in the Session Band," among others...

(NB: not a brighteyes fanboy, just an mp3 aficionado.)

actually, "soul singer..." is a cover and thus it would be really strange to retitle it.

Who sings the original 'soul singer in the session band'? I had no idea it was a cover.

'Endless Entertainment' sounds pretty good, not too different from Wide Awake... just the added brass.

I have an old-school conversion solution (i still use OS9 - 9.2 - on my home Mac, so I still don't have fancy unzipping software either... I do that at work!

For streams or anything else non-MP3 you'd like to have for posterity (burning),
You can just hook up audio out to audio in with a small 1/8-in. cable - which technically makes the file DAD ... then convert the AIF or full-sized file back to MP3 in iTunes.

Happy holidays!

I used LimeWire to download this song, and I've been browsing their search feature for a while, trying to find leaks of this new album and EP. I'm really glad at least one song has already made it, because the anticipation is killing me, and it's still a couple months away from release.

I like the song, but I hope this is just a B-side from the "Wide Awake" sessions, because it sounds so much like that style, and I don't want to hear another album that sounds exactly like that one. He's been able to expand his style with each album, and I don't want this one to be any different, but then again, what is it to me?

This is off of the new upcoming album. Bright Eyes will release the "Four Winds" EP March 6th, 2007, followed by the new full-length album "Cassadaga" due out on April 10th. The new record features the usuals- Mike Mogis and Nate Walcott- as well as guest appearances by artists like Sleater-Kinney's Janet Weiss.

conor is the most genius musician/somgwriter and singer ever.hes the most amazind and no one is ever going to top that.
The only reason you criticize him is because he isnt afraid to be different and he does whatever he wants with his music.thats why hes so incredible =]]
