Forget Coachella (Chili Peppers?!) -- the real buzz festival, again, is Bonnaroo. This e-mail's making the rounds, and while we're skeptical, remember Radiohead's farm gig was almost too good to be true too.
Sources close to the Manchester Times have recieved confirmation that The Police, Bob Dylan, and Pearl Jam have been confirmed to headline the 2007 Bonnaroo Music Festival. The lineup also includes Tom Waits, Willie Nelson, Umphrey's McGee, Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, The Black Crowes, Ryan Adams, My Morning Jacket, Arcade Fire, Keller Williams Band, Hot Chip, America, TV on the Radio, Fountains of Wayne, Modest Mouse, Les Claypool, The Shins, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Toots and the Maytals, The Roots, The Decemberists, Of Montreal, Cat Power, Ozomatli, Perpetual Groove, Band of Horses, John Butler Trio, Nickel Creek, Medeski Martin and Wood, Lily Allen, Neko Case, Keiren Hedben (Four Tet) & Steve Reid, The Hold Steady, Earl Scuggs, Charlie Louvin, Man Man, Grizzly Bear, Konono #1, The Slip, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Uncle Earl, Annuals, Beirut, M. Ward, Cold War Kids, and Girl Talk. Superfly Productions plans to officially announce the lineup on January 31st.Pray amongst yourselves.
UPDATE: Our sources at Big Hassle say there is NO truth to this. Boo.

This line-up of bland-rock represents everything that is wrong with music. I wouldn't mind if the whole place went up in flames and took all the bands with it... except for maybe Arcade Fire, Lily Allen and Of Montreal.

Bonnaroo has dropped signifacantly since 2004. The past 2 years they grab the big name bands touring for that year and use it as the advertisment. Taking away what was good about the Roo in the past which was the lack of spotlight on any band appearing. Allowing all the bands big and small share one spotlight. By having The Police, Pearl Jam, and Dylan (whom I love but he should not be a headliner)headline this year Bonnaroo makes yet another giant leap to mainstream. More attention means more problems and less fun. Pitch Fork Fest in Chicago and the All Good Fest are stepping up to the plate this year.

The Hold Steady, Fountains of Wayne, Cold War Kids, and Charlie Louvin are confirmed off that list. Still, the validity of this is questionable but if it comes even close, it blows last year away. I'd rather spend a weekend at Bonnaroo than in the California desert with elitist hipsters.

Yeah, forget Coachella. Why see the first (and probably only) American appearance by JARVIS FUCKING COCKER in 9 years, Air, Bjork, and the Rage reunion when you can instead see 10 acts from this years Coachella plus 10 acts from the last two, and 50 oldies acts and jam bands? I know there's more acts that don't belong this year than ever, but come on, get real.
This is a hoax lineup, anyway. Tom Waits? Yeah, keep dreaming. It would be a pretty sweet lineup, but there's no way it's true. There has to be at least one jam band headliner, and if Bob Dylan didn't headline years ago, why would he now?

Brian Jones...alive!, can we please let go once and for all of the childish notion that things that are popular are necessarily bad. If you want to see 3 mind-numbing days of bland-ass jam bands that all sound the same there are dozens of smaller festivals you can go to. I think Bonnaroo's gradual move away from this format while retaining its rootsy vibe is what's made it one of the best festivals. Last year's Radiohead show was among the best shows I've ever seen, and the My Morning Jacket midnight marathon was a close second.
Oh...and Nickelback, Bon Jovi, and Justin Timberlake would be a move toward the mainstream. There's a different word for artists like The Police, Pearl Jam, and Bob Dylan, and that's "legendary." For good reason.

6TH year for me and the headliners are important, but go for the whole experience, no 3 bands ruin it or make it for me. Love my oldies, but learn to love about 20 unknowns too and the party is to die for..............So many unexpected music surprises. But the rumored line-up would be icing............

Pearl Jam is in Europe during Bonnaroo, Bob Dylan turned it down before and would do it again (unfortunatly, he's getting old and I doubt he'd still do something like that), and some of those other bands are outrageous! No Emo should be at Bonnaroo, that's not chill...people come there to chill and listen to music, if they are there for other reasons, they shouldn't be there at all! Line-up comes out Feb. 14, check the actual website for more, and the REAL line-up, rumors aren't anything but bullshit. (granted some of those bands would be hella nice to see at the 'Roo this year!)

Please, Bonnaroo never indicated that they were putting on a 'jam band' festival. I hate jam heads and their tunnel vision when it comes to music. I also hate emo bands and their little pouting, make-up wearing fans but this is a MUSIC festival where rock bands should be booked equally as jam bands. Go to Langerado if you want nothing but jam band crap.
