The Dismemberment Plan Reunites For Cal Robbins
Late last year, a plea went out to help raise money for alternative medical treatment for J. Robbins and Janet Morgan of son, Callum Robbins, in his fight against Type 1 SMA (or Spinal Muscular Atrophy). Many have donated (which you can still do here) and benefit concerts have been held -- and now the noble cause has inspired a Dismemberment Plan reunion! Pretty sure this will be the band's first show since their "One Last Slice" gig at the 9:30 Club in D.C. in September of '03. (Can anyone confirm?) If people are looking for a warm-up, Statehood (Eric Axelson and Joe Easley from D-Plan) are opening for the Thermals tomorrow night at the Black Cat.

i saw one of the shows on the farewell tour and it was one of the best shows i've ever seen. they played for about 2 1/2 hours, inviting people on stage and taking all the requests the audience could think of. very cool they're reuniting for a noble cause.

The show sold out in less time than it took me to type in that crappy verification code, so less than 10 seconds. I can only hope that when I am at the Black Cat tonight for The Thermals that they will have held some for locals who actually wanted to see the show.

The Dismemberment Plan To Add Second Show
Bummed because you got shut out this afternoon while trying to score tickets to the much-anticipated Dismemberment Plan reunion show next month? Don't go paying exorbitant prices to heartless scalpers on Craigslist just yet. (It's a benefit show for a very sick child, people.) The band will add a second show at the Black Cat on April 27, one night before the show that just sold out in a matter of seconds. The news was confirmed by Plan frontman Travis Morrison, our co-worker who sits just a floor below Guru headquarters. On-sale date and time are still up in the air, but expect the information to be released soon. We'll let you know what we hear as soon as we know it.

My roommate and I were able to (somehow) get 4 tickets to the 28th. Just kept trying and trying w/ Ticketbastard. Finally got through. I'm glad they've added a 2nd date though... more fun for everyone. Hope to see some of you there!
