Your LolZeitgeist Winner

Thanks guys for submitting your Smashing Pumpkins lolcats iconography! A lot of your submissions were similar -- nearly identical, really -- which is to be expected (impact font and Corgan's cue ball only leave so much room for artistic latitude). But one entry stood out from the pack. It had that extra je ne sais quoi -- and so we have our winner, waiting for you after the jump.

Congratulations Lucas R., you are the winner of our stupid contest! Way to work in some Satellite Party love. Your reward is to have us forward your .jpg onto Pumpkins management so they can use it on the album. Or arrest you.

We figure the Pumpkins' single is gonna leak any day now. Maybe this weekend? If you get your hands on it, you know where to find us. Lingering Cornelius classy-ness dismissed.

ha! great fun. 10 times better than the originals.
i'm glad the pictures got stolen. they were so boring, i desperately want to think they were fake. what if smashing pumpkin's comeback is a flop?

(please post all the pictures! in a flickr or something)

It's not a Pumpkins comeback if Iha isn't involved...if you ask me.

i have one of the few promos and it is terrible. the absense is most noticible in the guitar sounds and riffs...and um, yea, the overall weak songs.

could you maybe post the promo somehow? i'm overtaken with sheer morbid curiosity.

totally genius move adding perry farrell.

Maybe Lucas wasn't thinking this when he did it, but it makes sense to add Perry Farrell to the SP artwork because after all, it was Jane's Addiction that was responsible for giving the Pumpkins their first big break - in 1988, JA let SP open for them in Chicago. And it was only the Pumpkins' 4th ever show! After that, labels started taking notice and battling for them. Just a lil FYI for you kids out there too young to remember how it all started.

that's good stuff, chucko. pay no mind to el douche, he's just having a laugh (a funny one at that, but still). i like it when people edumucate, i actually had no idea about that connection. although these days, sadly, SP could also be Satellite Party, which is all sorts of wack.

I'm an old school SP fan and can't help being excited about the reunion, so it kind of upsets me to see people mocking it this early on. Aren't there worse bands to bash?

That said, the album will probably suck, especially if Corgan is still stuck in his synth-rock/New Order ripoff mode. So watever.

i never understood all the Iha love. he's f'in terrible. aside from being the biggest puss in rock, he writes some godawful songs.

Quit Your Day Job: Ungdomskulen

Premature Evaluation: Beck - Modern Guilt
