Chris Cornell And Michael Jackson Salute Michael Jackson
AP reports that at next week's World Music Awards, Michael Jackson -- for his first gig in England in almost a decade -- will perform "Thriller."
Only this time no make-up! (Rimshot.)

That video used to give us such fucking nightmares. Anyway, could this be the start of a King Of Pop comeback? We sorta hope so! Don't go marrying K-Fed or anything, Jacko.
Oh, and Chris Cornell, WTF? He told MTV that his cover of "Billie Jean" has "to be heard to be believed." If only he wasn't right. Brace yourselves. (Thanks, Ryan!)

Chris Cornell is kind of whatever, but that song gave me unironic chills. The lyrics are so creepy when you aren't being distracted by that awesome bassline.

I was expecting much worse.
Actually, it's quite decent.

i actually think it's pretty cool...
okay, different.. but isn't that the definition
of a good cover?

it sounds like him singing the words to billie jean over a screwed up arrangement to billy joel's NY state of mind. horrible.

Hahaha, I was just cruising myspace and I saw this: Chilis is having a contest for a remake of the Baby Back Ribs theme song... this should be interesting.

Ps-the winner gets a meeting with a record label. Sweet.

i've always thought that chris cornell had one of the best voices in rock and roll. It seems to have weakened a bit, but wow, great interpretation.

Neat-o.

Maybe it's better that Cobain died when he did.
I wouldn't want to hear him turn out like this, though I highly doubt he would have.
I mean, we all fucking expected this kind of shit from Weiland, eventually (and I love most STP).
But I respected Cornell.
Kim Thayil, Ben Shepperd, and Matt Cameron are all lucky they got out when they did.
It's been downhill since Down on the Upside.

i have never listen to the lyrics to billie jean, fucking strange. I thought the cover was good, different . Cobain's dead dude, I am sure if he didnt kill himself, he wouldnt be the Cobain of 89-94.

Ok. Am I reading this right. Chris covered "Billy Jean?" If so, good for him. He is the man. Soundgarden is one of the all time great bands. They sounded like nobody before them and nobody has been able to sound like them since. His solo record was amazing! I saw the show in Spokane WA with less than 1000 other people ina small venue. It was the best show I have ever seen. It was so honest. Enter AudioSlave- I like it a lot. Weird combonation, but still better than most of the shit that comes out week after week. My point is this: HE HAS NEVER MADE A BAD RECORD. But... What the fuck was up with that car commercial that had the AUDIOSLAVE song. That broke my heart. That goes against everything he helped me to believe in with music. I found this quote from Chris, ""Music driven by money deserves to fail." Isn't that a commercial? I am going to miss you Chris.

I think this is awesome! Chris has The Best voice in Rock N Roll!

Seriously that cover of "Bille Jean" by Chris Cornell is one of the best covers I've ever heard. He's voice really shines and the actual meaning of the song comes out without those damn dance grooves overshowding them like in the orignial.
I hate it when a cover sounds EXACTLY the same as the original. Chris Cornell interpretted the song in his own way and for that fact, the song is amazing. Chris has one of the best voices in rock and roll, maybe even the best and for the simple fact that he could sing "Bille Jean" and make it actually sound awesome has made me gain so much more respect for such a versatile talent.
I like it when artists do different projects as it shows they have TALENT and arent one trick wonders.
Give the dude a break, can you sing as awesome as him? Can you write as beautiful lyrics as him? I think not so shut the fuck up.

Interesting unplugged version of "Billie Jean. But the original version is evidently better.
And for people who think Michael JACKSON is a child molester, just think with your brain not with your hate. The verdict was NOT GUILTY ! Remember it.

ian brown's cover sucks !! all of these covers are the same, a fucking copy of the original.
Cornell's voice is incredible, you sing like him ??? i don't think so, you don't like his voice it's your choice, but his cover is fuckin great. Not a badass copy.

Wow, what a commentary on Chris Cornell's cover of Billie Jean. Apart from "Gistacho", most everyone else here seems to be an absolute try-hard. 80-90's rock or "grunge" was born, and died, with Soundgarden. Still some great bands, possibly better, but none that influenced the same way. Nirvana?? - the McDonald's of rock&roll - ok, but not great - certainly a lesson in marketing and how to win over a bunch of wannabes and teenie-boppers. If you know anything about music, you should be able to listen to a song or an interpretation of a song and hear it for what it is, not get all shitty that it wasn't what you expected, or cranky because you think the "original" version (which sometimes sucked, Billie Jean NOT included) has somehow been perverted. If that's the limit of your ability to hear music, just stop bagging the musicians who you can't respect, stop pretending you can critique, and get back to your K-Fed, Linkin Park, and all that other flash-in-the-pan manufactured bullshit that you love so much.

Preach on brother not_gen_y!
I admit it is not the greatest of songs but who the hell else could pull that off. Also, if you listen to the WHOLE album, there are some pretty nice gems. He covers some Led Zepplin, Bob Marley, Elvis Costello and makes each song his own. I am glad to see that he has made it through where so many others have burned out. I still love to listen to old SNDGDN and wish he put out more of what he put out when he was in his 20's and 30's but sometimes it's just time to move on. Can you imagine Soundgarden in their 60's performing? That would just be sad. Black Sabbath is awesome but do you really wnat to see them now? maybe he is not this angst ridden young musician anymore but to quote Chris, "old is good but new is better".
Score = 0
All the haters should shut their mouths. Chris Cornell still has one of the top voices in rock to date. His work with Audioslave might not be his best but no one stays the same forever. Listen to his solo album for deep lyrics and awesome vocals. He writes great songs. Period. Cover songs aren't meant to be sung exactly the same by every artist anyway. Soundgarden was the best "grunge" band in the bunch. their songs still smoke most music by trendy bands out now.

i would never get bored
