Kate Nash Covers Arctic Monkeys
Despite the occasional imagined Lily diss, that other middle-class English MySpace phenom Kate Nash seems well on her way to fulfilling next-bigger-thing status. Especially if she keeps logging covers as excellent as her take on Favourite Worst Nightmare favorite "Fluorescent Adolescent," which she performed live on Jo Whiley’s Live Lounge. You can hear her hyper-ballad take at Hypeful. Middle-age character studies have never sounded so much fun. It's as hooky as the Monkeys' version of Amy Winehouse's "You Know I'm No Good." An idea: Maybe the Brits should keep on keeping it this incestuous.

i havent listened to this, so im not going to make a comment. and i know covers can be good (i wont deny that). but i think the music market (indie music market?) is becoming oversaturated with them. i feel like on this site alone there's an average of 3 (or so) posts a week about a cover song/songs.
So, i propose a 2 year ban on covers (live settings being excluded for the time being).
Your band will be penalized for recording a cover. Live recordings will be penalized as well, but not as harshly (but only if they are of the bootleg varity).
Any covering of classic songs (classic-ness of song to be determined by a panel of modern music scholars) will leave your band being never allowed to perform a cover again. Your band might not even be allowed close to a Beatles, Joy Division, Bob Dylan, etc. album again if you're not careful.
