Aphex Twin Gets Mashed Up

Aphex Twin returned to our headphones via an inspired Andy Samberg/Mahmoud Ahmadinejad affair. If you need another flavor of Richard James in your mouth -- uh, gross -- trip-hop to 100dbs's place, where the man that brought you The Argyle Album offers 10 downloadable Aphex boots (go the zipped route). Sayeth the masher:

How ill is Aphex Twin with the beats? I've been listening to his work for about a decade now and none of it sounds dated. Maybe more heads will recognize if I throw some vocals on top... here we have some quality mashups including verses by Busta Rhymes, Peaches, Nas, TI, Daft Punk, Snoop Dogg, Q-Tip, Afrika Bambaataa, OC, and Kool Keith. Technically one of the instrumentals is co-produced by Squarepusher, but whatever. That dude is crazy too.
Damn straight. Hey, Peaches shows up on "Fucking In Your Face (Crying The Pain Away)." Between this and her "Wild Thing" remix, kinda feels like Luxx, 2001. Since it seems to be the theme (and meme) of the day, we'd be remiss not to point out "Harder, Better, Faster, Self-Employed," but our favorite's "Touch It While Pissed Up," for its schizo mix of old- and new-school vocal cadences. The title doesn't hurt either.

I love Aphex Twin, and I respect the idea of these mixes. But these vocals are so lame I almost can't listen. At least on this first song "Planet.#####". Ughn.

Yeah I recognize. I recognize that people who make mashups are talentless hacks.

Everyone's a talentless hack nowadays, aren't they?

Anyway, though I'm a huge mashup fan, these are definitely underwhelming. A+B in the least sense of the term.

Yeah, Brett, they are. So I guess I should stop listening to both of the great Boards of Canada albums that were released in this decade. Thanks for the heads up, pal.

The 70's are over too but we still listen to indie rock which is mostly just 70's rock retread

'70s? Try '60s. Cuz, you know, The Beatles were around then.

Wow Brett, and I imagine that the fact that most 'indy' bands are just copying each other and the mellower side of grunge (another 90s by product) are completely lost on you?

Not only do people still listen to electronic music, but we don't get shit on our dick when we pull one out of our ass.
