New 60 Watt Kid Video - "Ocsicnarf Nas" (Stereogum Premiere)
Cracked, reverb-soaked experimental-poppers 60 Watt Kid are releasing a self-titled debut in early November. The San Francisco trio of ex-Dance Disaster Movement dude Kevin Litrow (vocals, guitar, etc) Derek Thomas (guitars, keyboards, samples and electronics) and Garrett Pierce (tom drum, percussion and xylophone) list Faust, Brian Eno, Gang Gang Dance, Alice Coltrane, Talking Heads, Neu!, N.W.A., Deerhunter, and Leonard Cohen, among others, as influences. (Remind us, too, of fellow Cali sonic tweaker Amps For Christ, aka Henry Barnes, with the slightly fried sonic texture.)
Ever see 'em live? A gust of audio-visual madness: 8-mm films, pretty loner psych (but with friends), flickering improvisational stretches. Something like this cut-up video for the gorgeously escalating, noodling, and Animal Collective-tinged "Ocsicnarf Nas."
Having a difficult time unpacking that alien tongue? It's "San Francisco" in a mirror. Easier guessing the language of chatty "Every Day," which whittles busybody psychedelic organs/keys, a half-heard phone conversation, and vocalist Kevin Litrow's sweaty howls into a big warping hook.

You can nab even more tunes from the more-than-promising crew over at their 60 Watt Space. It's well worth the ... trip.

Yeah I was gonna say, if the song title is supposed to be San Francisco backwards, you spelled it wrong. If not, carry on...
