New Land Of Talk - "Young Bridge" (Stereogum Premiere)

Land Of Talk stole our hearts last year, releasing the excellent Applause Cheer Boo Hiss EP that earned them a Band To Watch distinction and luring us to see them countless times all over the LES. After awhile, though, we just got antsy for new music. Looks like we'll have to wait a little while longer for a proper follow-up record, but there's good news for folks needing more to Talk about: as a result of Little Indian signing the band, the EP's getting a UK release complete with three previously unreleased songs, making it a ten-track LP that we couldn't recommend more to our trans-Atlantic friends. Don't know if "Young Bridge" was recorded before or after drummer Bucky's departure, but either way it's outstanding, a sweet pop tune with a crashing intro and another sweetly distressed Lizzie vocal stamped with airy backing "baahh"s...

Applause, cheer...

Land Of Talk - "Speak To Me Bones" (MP3)

Applause Cheer Boo Hiss gets its worldwide release (outside N. America) on 10/22 via Little Indian. Here's the new 10-song tracklist...

01 "Speak To Me Bones"
02 "Sea Foam"
03 "Summer Special"
04 "Breaxxbaxx"
05 "Magnetic Hill"
06 "All My Friends"
07 "Street Wheels"
08 "Young Bridge"
09 "2 Ships"
10 "Dark Nature Places"

More soon, we hope.

Is it just me, or was the WOXY live version of this song a bit stronger? The echo detracts from Lizzy's voice.

I also hope their new drummer gets his shit together before the new album comes out.

Saw this band last week at the Royal festival Hall and they were absolutely fantastic.
Lizzy's voice is so natural and uncontrived - indeed, it's refreshing to hear a band who are so effortlessly good - with out resorting to gimmicks or try hard images. I can't wait for the album to come out - I believe it's in about 2 weeks?
I'm seeing them at the water rats on monday - hoping to be impressed again!
