New Port O'Brien - "Stuck On A Boat"

Sometime ago after discovering Morning Benders and sampling some other Bay area indie bands, we settled on Port O'Brien as our fave of the bunch, squarely on the back of the ramshackle, chanted charge of "I Woke Up Today," the weary "Fisherman's Son," the rocker "Close The Lid." Over a year later, we finally memorialize the O'Brien love with a look at new tune "Stuck On A Boat," from the band's forthcoming, proper debut All We Could Do Was Sing. Ports, ships, nautical themes abound, and "Stuck" continues on both that thread as well as the band's love for spirited looks at run-down heroes, raw emotions, all through a scuffed jangle.

That's good, but "I Woke Up Today" is great. It's a brand new iteration of a tune that's floated around plenty, so even if you have it in your iTunes, this is today's must-grab:

Port O'Brien - "I Woke Up Today" (MP3)

All We Could Do Was Sing is out this May. The band's had songs out in all sorts of formats over the past while (including last year's The Wind And The Swell, compiling EPs of material), so here's a look at the forthcoming album's tracklist:
