New Shout Out Louds - "Don't Get Yourself Involved"
Last we saw any of the Shout Out Louds, Bebban was subbing for Victoria on a crowd-tickling "Young Folks" for the Coachella kids, which reminded us how much we missed SoL. After being an integral igniter of the exploding Swedish pop scene in '05 with Howl Howl Gaff Gaff, Shout Out Louds come back to travel a path now well worn (thanks to the likes of José, the Knife, Robyn, and PB&J) with a teaser EP and subsequent LP of tuneful goodness. "Don't Get Yourself Involved" is the only non-LP track on the EP tease, a wistful, smooth-edged with crackling, dirty guitar subtext.

Both releases are produced by Björn of Peter Bjorn fame (as were their previous releases), and his pop-savvy is evident as ever. "Tonight I Have To Leave It" is the first single from the LP, and it's a sprightly, string-laden gem with PB&J beats (John turns up on percussion on the record, possibly here) and a happy-day Cure vibe.

That first SOL record was fantastic. The new one's not bad, either, but it's a totally different sound... or so I've, errrr, heard from, errrrr, someone who has an advance copy. Because it hasn't been released yet. So it would be impossible to have a copy at this time.

@ trish: i think it sounds like "in between days"
"come back, come back, don't walk away. . ."

the album has been released in europe i believe, so technically you could have an import. er, yeah.
anyways, i'll play the "their first album was better" card here. not that this one is bad, definitely some good songs, but feels a little over-produced. still better than most of the garbage out there though.
