"Never Again" climbed its way to #8 on the Billboard Hot 100; respectable, but probably better news to Clive than Kelly. So the label push is on to launch single #2 from My December, "Sober," which takes a little over three minutes for Kelly to sing about three months, the state of her heart, and being sober.

i have no problem with how long the build-up is, it's just that, once you get there, it's not big enough. i liked the song until i got to the end, which didn't take it anywhere; still, it overcame the inanity of the lyrics, and that's no small feat.

The only reason Clive doesn't like these songs is because they aren't as commercial as the Breakaway songs - and that's fine because Kelly wants this album like it is, the sales and the money aren't important to her like they are to Clive. The album sounds great to me so far, what ever happened to the days where music was about the ARTIST and not about commercial formulas to sell to 13 year olds? Keep at this Kelly..

That's why he's a hitmaker. He has a stable of puppets he can forcefeed hit singles to. And, therefore, he makes the shareholders some serious bank.
He lives in a teeny tiny bubble of yes-men and his own inflated sense of importance, though. Yes Clive, whatever you want Clive...you're a genius Clive.
I have to say, even if I end up not liking My December, I still think Kelly needs to be praised for taking a stand against the money before music hit machine. I'll probably like it just fine, though.

When I first heard this song, I thought what lots of other people were thinking...this is sooo boring. But, I listened to it a lot, and something clicked. And that's the best type of song. The type that grows on you.
I don't think this song is the MOST complex song in terms of chords and originality, but I still love it. Kelly is able to turn an otherwise dull-ish song into an emotional and beautiful song. She has a beautiful quality to her voice.

Those who really are trying to get sober and those who have worked on changing their lives in another way. This song could mean three months getting over someone, three months being sober, three months making a huge change in your life. What ever it means I love it! It is very good.

maybe i am just older than most people posting comments but, this song is about '3 months' after a painful breakup. i don't love the album yet. 'sober' on the other hand is possibly a #1 hit. why? because, her vocal is phenomenal and if radio plays it, it will be the sorta song that grows on people. if/when that happens, this will be HUGE! i guess we'll see. all i know is it's a pretty great single choice.

About the build up of the song and then not getting anywhere... Well look what something similar did for Mariah Carey's in "We Belong Together". That song also reaches it's top at the end and it was a number 1 hit in the charts for a long time. This "Sober" song is amazing in every aspect. Lyrics are deep and music is haunting! KingHater, you're so full of shit. Do you not realize that Kelly had a hand in writing every single one of the songs on Breakaway besides the titular single? She even won an ASCAP for Song of the Year for writing "Because of You." She had five top ten singles, 2 Grammys, and 5 million albums sold.
Heaven forbid she write this album, too. This song is incredible, and can do well as long as the video and song get play in their respective media. It truly showcases her range (I think it's at least two or three octaves here) and shows some real emotion. Don't be surprised if this is a hit, guys.

"Sober" is an excellent song of the same variety as "Because of You". Clive hated "Because of You" and Kelly Clarkson had to fight to get it onto her last record, and then had to fight again to get it released as a single. The song co-won song of the year from ASCAP, went to #1, and has been revamped now for country and is in the top 10 on the country chart. Sober has the potential to do the same. It's a heart-felt song with an extremely catchy hook. It may not chart #1 on the Pop chart, but is a guaranteed #1 on the Adult Contemporary Chart.
Would I have released it right now? No. But then again, I wouldn't have released Never again as the lead single to this album. I'd have released "How I Feel", which has the potential to top the charts and become an anthem of the “Since U Been Gone” variety. Then I'd have released "One Minute","Don't Waste Your Time", and then "Sober", then finally "Haunted" or "Can I Have A Kiss" as the album was winding down. That makes better sense, but what you all have to remember is that Clive WANTS this album to fail.
Per people inside RCA, he wants to make Kelly an example. Regardless of the fact that she is an award winning songwriter for not only "Because of You", but also for "Walk Away", "Behind These Hazel Eyes", and for "Miss Independent". He has said her album is horrible and will be a flop, and he is making sure that people believe it, don’t give it a chance, and that it does become a flop. No promoting. No help. It doesn’t matter that the woman has written 5 number 1 songs. It doesn’t matter that there are at least 5 top 10 hits on this album. It doesn’t matter that Kelly is as good a songwriter as she is a singer. He wants her to fail. He wants her to shut up and sing. No time for artists. What he doesn’t realize is that this album SHOULD easily sell 3x platinum here in the USA alone. It’s a no-brainer and any other record company would see the potential gold mine in this album.
Clive is doing ridiculous things with this album to guarantee it’s failure, so releasing Sober now instead of when the album has momentum must be another “screw you Kelly Clarkson” tactic. I just don’t know. All I know is that he doesn’t like Kelly…maybe because she's not Carrie. Lol! She's not super sexy/pretty, rail thin, and she’s definitely not a "Yes" girl. Kelly has her own mind, doesn't care much about fame, and only seems to care about being an artist… and Clive doesn't like it. How dare she have a mind of her own? No wonder she alluded to his age. He seems to have “jump the shark”. Funny she’d never said a nasty thing to anyone in years, yet finally came out and said she “isn’t a fan” of Clive. He really must have pressed her buttons.
Anyway, contrary to popular believe, Kelly did compromise and worked with a producer hand picked by RCA. It's just unfortunate that Mr. Davis did not give this young lady's album a fair shot with proper promotion.... he is literally shooting himself in the pockets to prove a stupid point... that he's the boss. He want's to stuff his hands back up Kelly's caREER and make her sing bubblegum pop..."Hey Hey you you can stand under my umbrella ella ella ella aye aye aye, cuz I'm suicidal suicidal".... nice. 1. The video for SOBER is still waiting to be filmed so you'll just have to wait for that one.
2. Give my new single SOBER a chance first because you ask when my 3rd single will be released. I can only tell you it will be released before the end of the year.
3. Alot of people have asked me on that one, what is the 3rd single, and i just can't answer them as i love all the songs but at the moment i'm hoping to release 'Don't waste your time' as the 3rd single but you never know, things could change but i doubt it. So i'm 99% sure that will be the 3rd single
4. No. I'm not released a pop album 2008. If i do another album it will be more country and blues as that was what i was raised listening too but it wont be out in 2008. Maybe in 2009 or 2010.
5. Sober isn't being realeased worldwide as my record company said 'try it in US first. If it goes well then we will release it worldwide but if it bombs out then the other countries will never know'...something like that.

The U.K HMV has ONE Minute on pre-order set for release some time in Oct. This must mean it's getting a ww release(australia:sept.22nd)

I love being here three months after the single's release and reading all of the "Sober will be a big hit/Clive Davis is crazy" comments.

I'd bet that before she hit the road, Kelly took Clive's advice and we be adding a few hits for the My December deluxe edition coming out by year's end.

DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME has a new release date in the U.K: October 29th (same day as Rihanna's DON'T STOP THE MUSIC). It has been posted poned by almost 2 months, but who cares. They had problems with the video not being ready. A canadian release will be soon, as she conformed it the 2nd Single in Canada on E-talk. On sept.25th, a sneak peak of the video was released to her official website (something about a prince and a castle), but was taken off,for an unknown reason, today.
I have been following Sober's progress on radio, and for 1 week, spins went up, but now it has no spins at all. I am still confusedwhy there hasn't been a video released but wikipedia rumours, that it will be shot in OCTOBER.
One minute was released in AUSTRALIA on Sept.24th. Starting tomorrow, Kelly will be doing a 5 day promo tour for One Minute in Australia.
Kelly has re scheduled her tour, and tickets are on sale.
Her album sales Worldwide are about 1,140,000 and U.S sales are almost 700,000. With the release of 3 singles, sales are sure to go up.
Kelly is back on the right track.

By the way, One MInute has so far reached #22 on The Australian Singles chart base soley on airplay. Hopefully, next week it will go Top 10(due to phsical release and promotion). I even think ONE MINUTE could become her first #1 in Australia. It should be the next U.S single!!!

I'm confused because last week One Minute was #22 on the Australian singles chart. But tommorrow's official Aria singles chart is up and it has ONE MINUTE debuting @ #41, which means, the other Aussie chart I saw was fake(not official). One Minute also debuted @ #23 on the Australian CD singles chart.

I know that Kelly wrote the plan, but I'm not sure about it's content. Many times, I have come across web pages saying:Kelly is the only person in the video...... But I don't know.
