Andrew Bird Is Dr. Stringz

Hey hipster parents: If the recent glut of children's comps have taught you anything, it's that it is never too early to get your kids some indie cred. Here, Andrew makes an appearance as the magical Dr. Stringz on the Noggin Channel's Jack's Big Music Show, whipping violins and mandolins out of those deep, Bird pockets of his. String-da-da-ling-ding-ding string ding. (via P4K)

Amazing! when he first walked in and looked at the camera i was afraid that he was going to be an awkward/bad actor. but he was great.

this is my kids favorite show - last year they had Buddy Guy come on as "The King of Swing" and this year theyve had Jon Stewart and a video from the original Blues Clues guy that went punk with Steve Drozd of the Flaming Lips

Back in the 90's we didn't get awesome indie singers on our kids shows. Hmmph. *shrugs shoulders*

This past Friday Jon Stewart swung by Jack's clubhouse, as well as a performance from Steve Burns (formerly of Blues Clues) backed by Stephen Drozd of the Flaming Lips.

Last week also had an appearance by The Trachtenberg Family Slide Show Players. You could say Jack's is taking a page out of Pancake Mountain's playbook.

That was the best thing ever.

I'm also glad to see Bird was able to fit some of his patent-pending whistling into the song.
