New Beastie Boys Video - "Off The Grid"

Think we all respectfully disagreed with Mike D's claim that The Mix-Up would be a "post-punk instrumental album" when we heard "The Rat Cage," but "Off The Grid" may change your mind a bit after two minutes of typical In Sounds funk. Checking in with the voluminous bounce of Mike D's fro is a bonus.

UPDATE: "The Rat Cage" vid after the jump. (Thanks, Russell!)

I dig it a lot. It's gonna be a great record for summer barbecues. This was the direction I'd always thought they would go when they hit their 40's and I'm glad they did.

Sounds pretty good to me. Shitty white-boy funk bands from Providence to Berkeley should take note: it's not virtuosity that counts, it's attitude.

In case no one noticed, they made an official video for "The Rat Cage" too.

Totes, Steve. Byron never had viruosity, though.

Typical case of go with what you know. It's fine and all, but lots of bands do this stuff better. Sounds like a maudlin Mogwai to me. More funky fresh hip hop please.

i wonder if they read all the reviews of 5 boroughs that mentioned their lame rhymes and thought fuck it, we're too law-abiding and old to rap.
