New Modest Mouse Video - "Dashboard"

Head to Overdrive to watch the tall tale of how Fisherman Brock became Capt. Mic, encountering a nasty creature on the Sargasso Sea. Around the tune's bridge, Isaac is captured by a strange race of fantastical creatures wearing Mardi Gras plumage (sans show-me beads) that soon become Marrdest Mouse and proceed to rock the fluke out.

I think I'm disappointed. It's fun but kinda silly.

WTF? I kinda hate it and I kinda like it. The video makes me like the song more, but I am also confused. So confused...

Wouldn't expect nothing less from Modest Mouse. Clever, catchy, and a great story!

Sure, it's awfully silly for the Mouse, but I do find it comforting to know that they do in fact have a sense of humor after what they've gone through in the past. Looks like Isaac's in a good place.

I actually like it alot. That is both the video and the song. MM are one of the most unique bands in pretty much everything they do so yeah.

I watched it to the end. This video reminds me of the way they were made back in 1981 - stupid, cornball, goofy - and watchable again and again.

Sad to see that the "hook hand" or in this case "Mic hand" gag is still one of the hardest for makeup / effects people to make convincing.

Love that this video breaks the typical band peformance model - Great narrative, solid acting, and many memorable moments. The "Mic hand" is a clever way to connect with the story and Isaac as a singer. Who cares if his hand is tucked in his sleave. I also don't believe Isaac is a 70 year old man- but in the video I do. It tells the story and that is the important thing. Wonder what they spent on it? Nice work.

It was okay. The song is the best one on the album, the video could have done without the closed caption on the bottom. But i guess there was no other way to capture the story of the music video. Very fine.

"The song is the best one on the album"

If by best you meant worst, then yes, it's definitely the best on the album

The video is okay. It's nice to see that Isaac does the acting part fairly well. Too often bands try to act in their videos and it comes off extremely lame. The song is awesome though. Did anyone else realize that this song is totally disco? I half expected the video to include shots of John Travolta dancing in bell bottoms.

Is the man with the guitar peg-leg Isaac's father? I met Isaac's father, his name is Dan Brock. Dan makes knives in Eugene Oregon. This guy looks pretty much just like him, and even gives the same facial expressions, but Dan doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would be on TV, or sell his paintings etc. etc. (Good painter BTW) Please would some superfan tell me if it's Dan Brock in this video with Isaac Brock?
