New Old Pixies Video - "Tame"
Black Francis's Bluefinger LP -- a collection of Herman Brood referencing tunes, of course -- is out in the US next week. Kanye, Fifty, get ready! But it's a recently excavated A/V treat from Pixies that's abuzz today. The Doolittle whisper/scorcher "Tame" got some nightmarish, by-the-playground promo video treatment back in '89, but it's just recently found its way to the GooTube. They're making good friends with you! How do you like that, Sir Harold?

This video blows. But I love the Pixies. It's a bizarre version of the song.

It's a bizarre version of the song? Dude, it IS the song. Unproduced version, sure, but so are concerts.

Where can I find the original Herman Brood cd's? They seem to have disappeared from the market.

Steve, try ebay- they pop up on there from time to time. There are a few on vinyl right now, if you's got a playa.

The Pixies are hands dow one of my favorite bands of all time. But I have to admit, they have some pretty shiteous videos. Doesn't change their level off innovation by any stretch though.

I don't know why but this was probably my favorite Pixies song. The alternate breathing, epiiic

I believe the little person in the video is David Rappaport from Time Bandits who shot himself in the head the following year.

I think this may be from some sort of UK TV programme rather than a properly commissioned video - not only does it sound live, but the thing flickering top right for the second half of the clip is the old commercial TV advert cue-in signal.
At least it's better than this use of Tame - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxE69fzw6PY

Simon is exactly right, it was from a UK music program (I remember taping it off the TV At the time). I'm pretty sure the show was on Channel 4.
Memory starts getting hazier now but I think the show was called something like "Into the Groove." I also seem to remember it was some sort of odd hybrid of music/travelogue narrative. I think they were trying to think of more original ways to present music content than just having another live in the studio series.
Anyway, yeah, its not a promo vid, it was a live performance on a UK tv show.
