New Yelle - "A Cause Des Garçons (Booster Remix)"

Word's made its way back across the Atlantic about France's Tecktonik scene, a contemporaneous flux of music/fashion/art that just may be as loved, loathed, and nonexistent as NME's new rave nonsense. But, at least know that it's out there, and that Yelle is deep in the mix of this maybe-movement. Not much info we can give ya 'cause our French skills are nonexistent (maybe you can translate?), but you can fashion your own facts off of this remix by Booster of "A Cause Des Garçons," a keyboard-and-computer dance clash track, in which Yelle sings about, right, have no idea. They're saying "French Lily Allen."

Yelle - "A Cause Des Garçons (Booster Remix)" (MP3)

Don't see it? Maybe if you literally see it...

Or maybe it's 'cause she's witty.

An awesome thing is the Tepr remix of this song. They have the tecktonik style of dancing as well in the video-- http://youtube.com/watch?v=LYaZYmTwOxA .

Fantastic song in any language. "Because Of The Boys" I think is the literal translation. "Yelle" I'm thinking is a piss-take on "Elle" the magazine. So yes she is witty. Formidable!

I saw her live last week and she was fantastic! M.I.A. even came out and danced on stage with her. Magic!

I agree the Tepr remix is best - Tepr is in her band along with her producer, Grand Maranier

Oh memories.

The original track came out in 1987 thanks to a french duo called, erm... "A cause des garcons".

(there were a lack of ideas in 1987)

Yelle is basically singing the original tune with a couple of new beats n' tricks stuffed in.

(there is still a lack of ideas, 20 years later).

What's next? The Vanessa Paradis revival?
Oh, wait, it's already happening.

She's compared to Lily Allen only because she was discovered on MySpace.

Yeah, I saw her on TV. The Music Video that is and damn the music is so catchy. Who thought French could be so good this many years after.

She does have alot in common with the English speaking singers but I think unfortunately that she is rather a rip-off artist. In the best possible way of course.

Yelle's music is divine, but she is too similar to others to be called a serious attempting musician... But I'm definately going to look into buying all their albums.

This cover of a 80's french pop song is soooo dull.
